Standing before the door, Haruki's finger hovered over the door. He clenched his fist hesitantly before pressing in the numbers. The automated sound felt muted as the door opened. Hiroshi had not changed the pin.
He pushed the door and stepped into the apartment. Hiroshi was wearing headphones while running on the treadmill. He wasn't wearing anything except a pair of black shorts. Haruki inhaled deeply before stepping forward.
Hiroshi glanced back. He was taken aback by the intruder; he had to turn once again to see if he had seen correctly. Haruki raised his hand and waved at him casually.
He walked out of the living room and went directly into Hiroshi's room, ignoring the man who had stopped running and gone down from the machine.
Hiroshi felt speechless. He could have sworn that the chances of Haruki ever visiting him were zero. Seeing Haruki casually walking down the hallway to his room felt even crazier.
