“And that’s the last of it!” I huffed, reaching up to wipe the sweat from my brow. My phone was tucked between my ear and shoulder, barely keeping there as I finally got the last box of my stuff inside the house. I looked around at the familiar living room, but now it differed from only a few months ago.
I smiled wistfully at the lack of color and plain furniture I’d brought over from my apartment. Without Cat’s colorful touch and Elio’s style, it just looked empty.
“It still feels weird without you guys here,” I sighed into the phone. “How are you guys doing over there? Settle in yet?”
I took a seat on my couch, one of the few things I didn’t have to unbox, and stared up at the white ceiling, painted over after Elio and Cat moved out, though I really missed the dark red from before.
