Leo’s old beater of a car worked harder than usual to reach the speed I was in need of as I flew down the highway. I was already running so late for my mid-morning class. I was worried I wasn’t going to make it.
Thoughts of Leo had been distracting me, entirely. He had been avoiding me ever since he came home the other night, and I woke up alone the next morning. I still hadn’t even told him I was pregnant.
He had mentioned briefly at breakfast yesterday morning that he was busy handling the “Michael situation,” as he referred to it. Apparently, by busy, he had actually meant, consumed by.
So, I had been trying to do the same with my schoolwork. I thought maybe if I could distract myself in my studies, it would help me stress less about Leo avoiding me.
