Most of my day had been spent by Taylor’s side. After we had breakfast, Taylor suggested we go for a walk around the compound. I had to admit, it was nice getting out and going for a walk. The breeze was a bit on the cooler side and it felt nice on my face.
We spoke more of our memories as kids and it felt good to laugh. It felt good to feel light, again. For a while, there were no thoughts clouding my brain of the mafia, Michael, or my pregnancy. It was almost as if I were living a normal life again.
Except that I wasn’t living a normal life. I was the girlfriend of a man who was a leader in the mafia. I was a woman who was pregnant and hiding it from her boyfriend. I wasn’t just a college student anymore. I was going to be a mother and I was struggling to accept that.
Maybe, especially after today, I had begun to struggle with the fact that my life would never be normal again.
