"Didn't you see how I can easily kill one of your kind?" Lauren swallowed the bile in her throat. She glanced at Alec's hands on the last button of her coat.
After completely buttoning her coat, he straightened his back and met her gaze, "I did."
"And are you aware that I am a threat to you right now?"
"If you want to talk, let's do it in the castle. You are freezing." His eyes narrowed to slits. He could see how pale her skin was due to the cold.
"Tell me what you are thinking. I know you don't know what I am and I probably look like a monster right now, so you don't have to pretend like this is nothing to you."
"Yes, I do have a lot of questions. But I want you out of this dark and cold place first." He looked impatient and unkind but she could see he was doing his best to give her patience.
"I can't return like this—" A shrill cry escaped Lauren's lips when she suddenly felt a striking pain in her chest like her heart was being clenched by thorns.
