Eli couldn't comprehend her eagerness to escape his side. In his mind, staying with him was entirely logical and filled with advantages for her. Under his roof, she saved money on groceries, rent, and utility bills. She didn't have to endure a grueling daily commute. Neon was always looked after while she was away. What more could she possibly be looking for?
Belle glanced at him, a faint, weary smile touching her lips. Out of the corner of her eye, she could feel a pair of eyes watching them from the house, though she didn't bother to turn and look. Aside from Jojie and Neon, who else would it be?
"Eli, we always agreed that Neon and I would only stay with you temporarily while I saved up for a place of our own," she said softly. "I have enough money now. It's time for us to go. We've already overstayed our welcome."
