As I was deep in thought, remembering memories from the past, I realised we had already arrived at our destination.
This school had many restaurants and like the real world, they differed in quality. Some were cheap and some were expensive and some tasted better than others.
The restaurant we had come to was considered one of the best. As appealing as it would sound this also meant it attracted many students. In other words, many people would be there; something I avoided.
We entered the restaurant and we were already analysing the restaurant for some seats. The restaurant did seem to be packed however, Harumi and Kaori didn't look as if they would just leave. They looked determined to eat at this specific restaurant for some specific reason.
"Are you Tsukamoto Tadashi from Class 1-A?"
I looked to my right to see someone dressed like a waiter. The man was around my height and had black hair. The man didn't look as if he worked out.
"Yes."
"Oh, then please follow me. There are tables reserved for particular students such as yourself."
The perks of having the highest level of academic ability amongst the first-years were indeed incontrovertible. I wondered how school life would be if I tried. The perks would be boundless and this school would have the highest grades globally.
We followed the waiter to another room which had fewer people and tables but the tables seemed more luxurious. The cutlery was gold and the chairs were made from diamonds and gold. The cost of the chairs alone was in the millions and the tables were also in the millions. The cost of the whole room had to be in the billions.
There were around sixteen round tables, ten rectangular tables which had six seats, ten tables that had four seats, and five tables that had two seats. The decorations in the room were no mere decorations. They were either old or artifacts from loot from wars in the past.
We sat at one of the four-seater tables and ordered our food and waited. Akito took the seat next to me and Kaori and Harumi sat next to each other. As we waited we did what any normal people would do, talk. We talked about our backgrounds, parents, and other things. I planned to completely observe Asagiri Kaori.
No matter who it is I completely study that person and after I have confirmed my deductions I would treat them accordingly to my deductions.
"I'm completely failing!" Kaori exclaimed as she rested her head on the table. She turned her head so she rested on her cheek and looked at Harumi to see her reaction.
"What do you mean?" Harumi asked.
"Exactly what I said. I'm failing in school." Kaori replied with a sigh.
"Well Tadashi here can help you with that; he's extremely intelligent in academics but in the athletic ability it's almost worrying how much he lacks in it."
"How long will you mock me Akito?" I said, sarcastically.
"REALLY?! YOU'LL HELP ME?!"
"Woah. When did I say I'll help you?"
"Oh." Kaori did seem affected by what I said. She didn't seem to be lying about her grades but it's not something I would help her in. It won't be beneficial to me now or in the future. To be honest it would be best if she was expelled.
"Don't be like that. Please help me!" Kaori pleaded but as she did our food came.
Our attention then switched from Kaori to the mouth-watering food that came our way. As it was placed on the table my stomach rumbled.
"Thank you for the food!" Harumi said as she dug into the food.
Akito and Kaori did the same and I followed. I didn't want to stand out so I followed the social norm. I had studied it for quite some time and I have mastered it but now is when I implement it.
I thought about Kaori's request but I wanted to keep her as a pawn for the meantime but it seems it's time to promote my pawn.
"Kaori-san, I can help you with your academics." I said to Kaori. Kaori's face beamed with excitement and hope.
"REALLY!" THANK YOU!"
I've only just started school and I'm already tutoring students. How has my life come to this?
"So when do we start?" Kaori asked.
"We can start tomorrow after school." I replied. I didn't have anything to do today but I would still like to sleep or play the games Akito recommend to me.
I came to this school to enjoy life peacefully and whatever it takes I will do that and protect that peace. There is also the other thing I wanted to do but I should enjoy the limited time I have and cherish it before I lose them as well.
"I'll give you some tests beforehand so I know your current level. Would that be alright?"
"That'd be fine as long as I don't get put in a lower class."
I almost forgot about the way this school works. If you fail in most of your tests then you will be expelled however, any student that fails in Class A will be put in the classes lower depending on the test score.
"If I continue to fail then I'll be expelled." Kaori said as she looked down at her thighs and avoided eye contact with us.
As I help Kaori I can observe her better. In a day I could find out her real self. With direct interaction, it'd be even better. She already seems to be hiding something and from her aura, she seems to have an even darker side to her. If I could find out her secret then I could completely manipulate her and control her like a puppet.
"Tadashi's really smart; he can help you." Harumi said, giving hope to Kaori however Kaori had different plans.
We then finished our food and left the restaurant. As we came out we found a group of students. The group of students seemed to be fighting.
"That's Nishimura-senpai." Kaori said as she pointed to one of the students.
"Who?" Akito asked.
"He's the class leader of Class 2-C." Harumi replied.
"He's extremely strong, smart, and good-looking." Kaori added.
"What's he doing with those students then?" Akito asked.
"How thick can you be Akito?" Harumi scolded. "They're clearly attacking Nishimura-senpai."
"Should we do anything?" Kaori asked.
"We shouldn't get involved; it'll only make it worse for us and them."
"Are you sure Tadashi-kun?"
"Yes Kaori, it wouldn't benefit us in the slightest and we can't stop all of them with our strength."
It seemed as if Nishimura Yosuke is being attacked by many first-years however, Nishimura-senpai could easily overpower them as he is an adept martial artist.
"Let's go back to our dorms and pretend we never saw them then." Kaori suggested.
"I guess." Akito said.
They all felt the guilt of leaving a student without helping him. They knew what Nishimura-senpai was capable of but they still felt guilty.
In this world, the weak are conquered by the strong. Allying yourself with the strong is the best solution for the weak but when that person betrays you you have no one to protect you.
We parted ways at the dormitory building lobby and left for our rooms.
