A robotic yet soothing voice spoke, startling Chris.
"Oh uh, Hisgard is fine.."
"Is your name: oouuuuhisgardisfine ?"
"No, it's Hisgard."
"Correction Applied, New name: Hisgard. Your player class will be selected randomly through 768 different choices. Please wait for a moment."
'768? That's alot of classes, knowing my luck, I'll probably end up with a garbage class, right?'
And indeed, as Hisgard thought, what he presumed would happened, happened.
"Player class attributed; Class: A butcher's apprentice."
"What? Are you kidding me? The hell is even that class?"
"Hisgard, you shall start in a butcher's shop in Soyo."
"Launching VR transmigration in: 3.. 2.. 1.."
"Wait..wait! WAIT!"
Transmigration: Completed.
Chop. Chop. Chop. Continuous, repetitive, chops. Steak after steak, dead animal after dead animal. The sound of Hisgard's newlyfound master's knife slicing the meat and hitting against the cutting board kept ringing in his head. It felt like this was going on for hours upon hours.
Finally, Hisgard asked:
"Sir.. When can I start improving my skills?"
"Shut your mouth. Just watch for now."
"..Alright.."
After some time, he spoke:
"Okay, now, grab the knife."
Honestly, that knife looked more like a machete. With the length of the blade alone taking up the entirety of Hisgard's forearm.
"Okay.. And now?"
"Chop the meat."
"Uh.. Okay."
Chop.
"No. You're doing it wrong. Keep your hand steady, move smoothly and then slide the knife in."
"Okay sir."
Chop.
"Try again."
Chop.
"Still wrong. Try again."
Chop.
"Some improvement. Still wrong. Try again."
Chop.
"Close, go a bit faster."
Chop.
System: Skill achieved! Skill: Butchering Level 1. Eldia's voice said, resonating through Hisgard's head.
"Okay. You've finally did a good cut. Now slice these meat slabs and you can go rest."
"Which meat sl-.."
Hisgard's words were cut short, seeing the enormous amount of work he had to do.
'Oh. These meat slabs.' He thought to himself, looking slightly distraught.
Seeing what appears to be 20 meat slabs, each of them weighing atleast 10 kilos.
"I'll be staying here all night I guess..."
As Hisgard's "master" left the butchery, the former started chopping the slabs one by one, each chop, each time he cut those slabs, he felt more and more comfortable with it, getting faster and faster.
And finally, as Hisgard finished chopping the last slab, Eldia's voice started ringing in his head.
" System: Skill leveled up! Skill: Butchering: Level 2!"
'Nice.. Is that like.. All ?'
And just as he finished that thought, Eldia spoke again.
"System: New ability unlocked! Ability: Chop!" Eldia informed him.
'Seriously? Hours of work for an ability called "Chop".'
Hisgard's sighed. Afterall, "Chop" was not a promising name.
'Atleast I'll see what it does before complaining.'
'Status.'

'Huh? Burglars? Wha-'
Interrupting Hisgard's thought, the sounds of a window breaking and footsteps throughout the main room of the shop could be heard.
'This is bad, really bad!'
Hisgard was right, what could he do? He had never encountered this type of situation before. Yet, he remained determined.
Still holding his knife, he hid to the side of the door leading to the main room. The counter with the money was directly infront of that door.
"Looks like there's quite a bit of money in here.. about 100 silver I think..."
The first burglar. he looked broad, tall in height and was a weight class above Hisgard. While the latter was similar in stature but considerably not as heavy.
"Go check the backroom. There may be some valuable stuff there aswell."
"Alright."
The second burglar looked smaller than the 2nd one, appearing as a little brother. to the larger one.
The problem is, that he's coming towards Hisgard, the backroom.
With each step, echoing closer and closer to Hisgard, he needed to decide on a course of action, and fast.
As he passed through the door frame, Hisgard plunged his knife into the burglar's head, using the ability 'Chop' to split his head in half. His dead body crumbled to the floor, blood was pouring, on the knife, the floor, and Hisgard.
"Igor..?! No.. NO ! SHOW YOURSELF!"
Screamed the first burglar, as he saw his friend's split head and his cadaver on the floor.
"Surrender, and you won't die by my hand."
"DIE YOU MONSTER!"
He cried out, lauching himself at Hisgard with a dagger.
Chop.
His hand was cut clean off. The dagger fell onto the floor. The look of despair on his face.. Looked so.. real. Even the flesh.. The blood.. No. Everything about this game looked so realistic. It felt like real life. But it wasn't real life. There were no consequences to it.
'So why can't I bring myself to kill him like I did with the first guy?'

Hisgard tied him up, capturing him in the process.
