So, me and Rain started to get back to work on the fields. I grew plenty of fresh crops and Rain fed them. It only took us a couple of minutes this time because we didn't have to clear it out and I wasn't so tired either.
"Wow Kane, you are amazing at being able to grow that many crops in such a short time, that's awesome". Xena said to me while coming up to me and Rain.
Xena and her sister Zion started to come up to me and Rain. They both had baskets in their hands. They were picking some fresh vegetables and getting some apples for people. Rain was telling me that they have been helping him out by harvesting some of the vegetables for people. There were two other people hoping out Rain too, but I haven't met them yet, so I didn't know who they were.
"Well thank you guys for helping us gather up the vegetables and fruit". I said to the twins as they were coming up to us.
"Haha, it's no problem our sister said we had to be some sort of help around here, so we decided to help out here". Xena said to me while having a big smile on her face.
"Yeah, her sister would get really mad if we are just lazy around". Zion said to me quietly while looking down at her basket full of vegetables.
"Well, you two did a great job, we appreciate all the help". I said to the twins.
"Well, it wasn't just us, see Mike and Eric also helped us they're over by the apple trees". Xena said while pointing at the two boys in the apple tree.
"Well then I should go thank them too I'll be back in a bit". I said to them as I started walking towards Mike and Eric.
As I was walking up to Mike and Eric it looked like they were picking apples from the apple trees. Each one of them had a basket tied to their back halfway filled with apples. As I was getting closer, I got a better look at them. They both are young boys who looked around the same age as the twins. Mike had pure black hair that barely reached his eyebrows. His eyes were a dark pink that reminded me of cherries. Eric had white flowy hair that covered one of his eyes. with light purple eyes with dark skin from being under the sun for so long.
"Hi there, you two I've heard that you've been helping with the farming we appreciate your help". I said to Mike and Eric waving at them from under the tree.
"Oh, hi there it was no problem, instead of just sitting around we should help out a little bit since we have the energy to". Mike said to me while jumping out of the tree.
"Yeah, my brother and sister are helping defend the school so I should help out too". Eric said to me while reaching for the last Apple on the tree.
"Well, we appreciate your help. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself again. My name is Kane. I heard you guys were Mike and Eric. It's nice to meet you". I said to both of them as I start to gather up the apples that fell on the ground.
"We know who you are, we've heard a lot about you and how much you've helped us so we should be the ones thanking you". Mike said to me as he grabs apples off the ground.
The sun was starting to set so I told Mike and Eric that they should hurry up and finish then go inside. As I did, I started to walk back to the school building. As I started to head back, I heard a loud noise coming from the front of the school.
"AAAAARRRRY". I heard a screeching scream coming from the front of the school.
"I remember this is that scream that came from that lengthy beast". I said to myself as I started to run towards the front of the school.
As I was running to the front of the school, I noticed that most people started heading up to the second floor. As I got to the front of the school, I looked outside the windows and I saw Maya Ethan and a couple other people out there. It looks like Maya was giving orders, but I couldn't hear since I was still in the school. As I got closer to the front door, I noticed three of the skinny beasts charging at the school.
"Now"! Maya yelled and as she did fire came down from the roof of the school.
The fire was used as a wall to stop the beast. Right after the wall was put up a lightning bolt came striking down at the beast hitting only two of them as a third one dodged out of the way.
"Be careful these beasts are smarter than they look". I said to Maya and the others as I walked out of the school doors.
As I said that the beast charged straight at Ethan. Without hesitating he swung his sword at the beast. When he did the beast jumped up and dodged his attack and as it did it landed on his sword. Then the beast smacks Ethan straight in the face, making him stumble backwards but still holding his ground.
"Now Millie". Maya yelled, and Millie made a powerful gust of wind at the beast pushing the beast down onto the ground.
As the beast fell down to the ground Maya charged at it. She had a spear in her hand and jumped up into the air and came down on the beast piercing through its head.
"I think we got them". Maya said while pulling her spear out of the beast head.
I ran up to Maya and the others. As I did, I gave Ethan a little bit of the healing liquid that I had on me.
"Thanks Kane". He said to me as I gave him a little bit of healing liquid.
"There's one more"! a female voice said coming from the roof.
As she did, another skinny beast came out of the rubbish. But this one was different; it had four arms and four legs. It had two white stripes going from its head down to its back. It was charging at us with incredible speed. Millie was the closest one to this beast as she was about to use her powers to stop the beast, it let out a screeching scream.
"AAAAAARRRYYYYYYY". The scream was so ear piercing that Millie fainted.
The beast was charging at Millie, opening its mouth so wide it almost touched the ground. Ethan started running full speed towards Millie, but he was too slow he wouldn't be able to get there in time.
"Roots go". I said while swinging my hand up.
Roots pierced the ground right beneath the beast's face. But the beast just in time jumped up into the sky. As it did, I shot a spear out of my hand straight at the beast. But the beast was too fast and smart it barely dodged out of the way. As it dodged my attack, it started to come straight down at Millie. The beast was a couple of seconds away from Millie. I saw Ethan running towards her and the left side of his chest started to glow. I quickly summoned a big leaf sword and threw it by Millie.
"Ethan catch". I said to him as I threw the sword towards Millie.
Ethan's chest started to glow even brighter as it does, he dashed to Millie in a second while grabbing the sword. The beast noticed him, and it was about to dodge out of the way, but it wasn't prepared for the strength that Ethan had. He swung the sword so fast you could barely see him cut clean through the beast.
"Are you guys okay"? Maya said while running towards them.
Ethan started to breathe heavily; I could tell using that much strength took a lot out of him. Even though he was weak he bent over and picked Millie up and started walking to the front door of the school.
"What was that thing Kane"? Maya asked me as we started walking back to the school.
"Well, it looks like it's a middle type of those long skinny beasts that came out at us first". I said to Maya as we entered the school.
As we entered the school people started to come down. A couple people came running to Millie to check on her.
"Is she going to be okay"? A little boy asked Ethan.
"Yeah, she just needs some rest right now". Ethan responded back to the kid while holding Millie in his arms.
I put a bottle of a healing liquid on Millie and started to explain a little bit to Ethan how to use it.
"Here Ethan, pour a little bit of this on Millie, once it stops absorbing into her skin she will be fully healed. She'll probably sleep for a little longer though since it just speeds up the recovery by using your own energy". I said to Ethan while handing him the bottle of healing liquid.
By the time we all started to settle down it was nighttime, but I wasn't too tired since I slept a lot to recover so I decided to stay up for a little bit.
"Hey Maya, I was wondering if there was anybody here who likes to take notes on the beast". I asked Maya as we started heading back to the room.
"Oh yeah there is someone like that, her name is Penny. She's the person who watches during the daytime, since she can see really far away with her power. She's been taking notes for a little while on how the beast acts and how many come to attack us each day". Maya said to me as we get closer to the room.
"I think I would like to talk to this girl. I want to go over her notes on the beast and monsters. It would help to know a little bit more about them". I said to Maya as we entered the room.
"Yeah, I guess that would be a good idea but she's probably really tired right now so you can go talk to her in the morning". Maya says to me as she turns on the light to the room.
As she turns on the light. I see Lucy, Aaliyah, and Gaia all sleeping in the same bed.
"Oh yeah I left Gaia with Lucy for today I'll spend some time with her tomorrow though". I thought to myself as we started to walk into the room.
Maya goes and lays down on her bed. I look around and see there is an empty bed, but it looks like somebody's been using it, so I decided not to lay in it and just make my own.
"Oh, sorry Kane if you want you can use that bed over there, they're on night duty tonight". Maya told me as she pointed to the bed.
"No, it's fine, I can just make my own bed". I said while walking towards the empty corner in the room.
As I find a spot where I want my bed to be, I think of how beds are made so I put roots at the bottom and then I cover the top with leaves that are bigger than my body. As I finished it I sat on it and it was surprisingly comfortable.
"Hmm, what's going on"? Lucy says as she slowly starts to get up.
"Oh, sorry I must have woken you up". I said to Lucy as she started to get up.
I started to feel a little shy and embarrassed thinking about what happened just a couple hours ago. As I was thinking of that I looked over at my sister and she was staring at me with a smile on her face. I had a feeling that it was her who put us in the same bed.
"Sigh, what the hell was she thinking she made me have a heart attack. She knows I'm not good at situations like that". I thought to myself as I lay down in my bed.
"Kane can you turn off the light for me"? Maya asked me as she did. I went to turn off the light then went back to my bed.
As I lay down in my bed I stared up at the ceiling for a while not really thinking of anything. I wasn't that tired but as I lay there for a while, I started to feel sleepy. I found myself starting to go to sleep, but as I did, I felt something jump up onto my bed.
"What was that"? I thought to myself as I started to feel around.
I touched something furry and then I heard a meow.
"Meow". Gaia said as she started to walk up onto my chest.
"It is just Gaia". I thought to myself as I started petting Gaia on her head.
"Well, I guess we should get some sleep Gaia". I whispered to Gaia as I started to close my eyes.
"You talk to your cat"? Maya said in a weirded-out voice.
"Well yeah, she's one of my closest friends". I said back to Maya.
"Yeah okay, I guess she is kind of cool". Maya said back to me.
"Yeah, she's a pretty cool cat, she stayed whit me all day until you came back Kane". Lucy said to us.
"And…she's really fluffy…too". Aaliyah said in such a sleepy voice.
"Well, I guess we all should get some sleep for now who knows what tomorrow can bring". I said to them as I made a leaf blanket for me to cover up in.
"Yeah, good night, guys". Maya said to us.
"Yeah, good night to you guys too". Lucy said back.
So, I started to drift off to sleep. It was the first time in a long time I actually slept with people in the same room. At least fall asleep on my own will and knowing that there's people in the same room. It's a nice feeling to have.
