Arthur didn't waste words. He thrust his wand forward, and raw arcane energy erupted toward the creature in a concentrated beam. The spell carried enough force to vaporize a building.
The six-armed being raised two of its hands, and the beam struck an invisible barrier. The energy dispersed harmlessly around the creature, absorbed and redirected by whatever shield it had manifested.
"Magical resistance," Arthur noted grimly.
"Significant magical resistance. My attack didn't even scratch it."
Bodock tried a different approach.
Instead of attacking the creature directly, he targeted the ground beneath its feet.
The ground liquefied, transforming into quicksand designed to trap and immobilize.
The creature simply stepped out of the trap before it could fully form. Its movement suggested it could sense the spell forming and had repositioned before it could take effect.
"It can feel magic gathering," Bodock said.
"It's anticipating our attacks before we release them."
