"Oceanus, it's been a long time."
Seeing the beast's eyes clear up, Charlotte spoke with a tone of nostalgia and complexity.
Oceanus, somewhat pensive, looked at her. The Ocean God's gaze seemed to be focused on her, yet it seemed as if he was seeing something else entirely.
Shock, complexity, confusion, sudden realization, joy, melancholy... various emotions flashed through his enormous pupils one after another.
He let out a soft sigh, hoarse and weak, and said:
"It's been... a long time. Your appearance... has changed quite a bit. It seems, you've ultimately embarked on this path..."
Oceanus's demeanor and tone were far more weathered than those in Charlotte's memory.
Two thousand years is an overwhelmingly long time. For Charlotte, who crossed through history, it was but a few short months, but for this ancient deity, it was a vast era.
