He pulled the revolver kept in calcium water from its pouch, slid it into the holster at his waist, and began the Narwhal's first patrol of the day. This was his duty as Captain, a task never to be skipped as long as they were at sea.
The first stop was always the deck. Just as he stepped out of the cabin, Charles saw Feierbahah sitting at the bow amongst the deck-scrubbing sailors. He was using a knife to scrape barnacles off a sea turtle, making a grating sound.
"Do you really love all creatures in the sea that much?" Charles asked.
