Human boots crunched on the dry, colorful leaves.
Leading the way, Charles wielded the Black Blade, clearing the vines and shrubs that blocked their path. Everyone kept a wary eye on their surroundings. No one spoke, afraid their voices would attract the strange music from before. Charles had already ordered the scouting rats to return; against an enemy unseen and untouchable, their reconnaissance was useless.
At that moment, Lily was whispering into Charles's ear.
"Mr. Charles, we attacked those rope people earlier. When we leave this island, shouldn't we apologize?"
"Stay focused! Don't think about useless things."
"But we misunderstood them. Shouldn't we apologize? At the very least, we should say we're sorry, right?"
Amidst Lily's incessant chatter, the group arrived at the ruins of the Foundation. Looking at the buildings swallowed by trees and vines, everyone turned to Charles, awaiting the Captain's next command.
