It seemed that, to dispel the fear of death, the West from the past, still wrapped in bandages, chatted endlessly, his flamboyant personality surfacing once again.
Although Bandage hardly responded, this did nothing to dampen his enthusiasm.
As they talked, West began speaking about his happy childhood on Shadow Island.
"On that island, our family lived in a large house in the Island Heart District. We never had to worry about food or clothing. That was the best time of my life. The only thing was, my father would go out to sea for a very, very long time whenever he went to pick up stock."
"No one knew where my father sourced his goods, but his sapphires were the finest quality in all of Shadow Island. I think he must have gone to other seas to get them; otherwise, their quality couldn't have been so good."
