The crew's footsteps quickened. As their pace increased, their breathing grew ragged and chaotic. Charles had no idea how long they had been descending the spiral staircase. He roughly estimated they had gone down hundreds of turns, yet they still hadn't reached the bottom.
Just as that thought crossed his mind, an unexpected figure appeared before them.
He was a man in a white hazmat suit, holding a tablet similar to one from the Foundation. He was lazily descending the stairs, his head buried in the device.
