"Get the hell away!" Bright arcs of electricity scattered everywhere as the roots binding him instantly turned black and began to burn.
Watching from the side, Linda pulled a brown ball the size of a ping-pong ball from her white lab coat and hurled it at Charles's head. In mid-air, the object rapidly disintegrated into powder. The next second, Charles was overcome with a violent wave of dizziness.
THUD! Charles slammed face-first onto the floorboards. He tried to struggle to his feet but found he couldn't muster an ounce of strength.
The crew members closed in slowly, gripping assorted weapons, their faces twisted into savage sneers. Rats with red, glowing eyes darted out from between their feet, baring their fangs menacingly.
Lying on the floor with veins bulging, Charles glared at them furiously. "Damn it! These guys were fake from the start!"
