Chapter 460 - Chapter 460: Jacob’s Wedding.

[Alex POV]

Knock Knock Knock

Uncle Mitchell opened the door with half closed eyes and was startled when he saw me.

"Alex? What are you doing here? It's 3 in the morning? Don't you have the wedding tomorrow?" Mitch rubbed his eyes and led me into his house.

Cam came out holding a bat and said in relief, "Oh. It's just Alex. Why did you knock on our door so violently?"

"I need to talk to you. Urgently." I said to both my uncles.

"I'll make some tea." Cam immediately went to the kitchen. "Don't start without me."

Mitchell turned to Cam with a slight exasperation before sitting next to me on the couch. "Uh, Alex. What's going on?"

"Edward and I are taking a break." I said.

"You what– I thought you guys were solid?" Mitchell was startled.

"I thought so too, but then I realizedI don't really know who he truly is!!" I said with frustration.

Mitchell gasped, and Cam rushed towards us without bringing the tea with him. "What did he do? Did he cheat on you?"

"No. I guess… I'm the one who did something wrong here?" I said and explained to them about Abby and what the three of us did in the cabin.

"So? He wants to do that all the time now? That whore." Mitchell said insultingly. Then, he paused and said, "I just said 'that whore' because I feel like it was expected here, but now I realized I don't really know her very well to say that."

"He was being nice. That's not the problem. The problem is, we spent four years together, but our relationship barely scratched the surface as far as our relationship goes."

"OH." Cam was taken aback. "So it's not that you hate him for sleeping with another woman?"

"It's mostly my idea. So I couldn't blame him for that." I replied meekly. "Also, 50% of the blame lays on Abby, since she put the idea of experimenting in my mind."

"So, what is the problem here actually?" Mitchell asked. Cam added, "Because so far, we don't really hear anything bad that makes you want to take a break in your relationship."

"That's the point. Eddy and I, we're comfortable."

Both of them titled their heads in confusion.

"I mean, we're in a rut. We don't talk deeper than what's going on with the sciences, or how to work that day. I feel like we're going through the motions. And when Abby comes into the scene, for some reason, our relationship finally feels alive."

Mitch and Cam exchanged glances before Mitchell said, "Well. Alex. I get it."

"You do?" I was taken aback.

"Yeah. Every relationship has that point where you feel like you're in a rut. That's because you're afraid to go a little deeper than necessary."

Cam added, "Mitchell and I, we had our first deep talk at about six months into the relationship."

"Sometimes, we talk to our partner. But we don't 'talk', talk. Do you understand me?" Mitchell asked with a soft smile.

"I think in your case, it's better for you and Edward to sit down and figure things out, not jumping into a relationship just because you feel like it's the next step to do, or just because you expected it was what the other person wants." Mitchell added.

Their advice was quite good, but I couldn't understand why I was still feeling anxious about everything.

Would I still love Edward once I saw what's behind the mask? I saw parts of it, and I was already overwhelmed by it. If he showed his true self, could I promise myself that I wouldn't run away?

…

[Edward POV]

"So she told me, that she needed a break!" I complained to Jacob as he wore his groom's tuxedo.

Finneas interjected, also wearing a black suit, "Eddy, I don't think Jacob wants to hear about your personal drama just an hour before his wedding–"

"Don't speak for me." Jacob interjected Finneas while sitting on a chair. "I live vicariously through him. So I want to hear about all of his relationship troubles."

"T-Thank you!" I said with frustration while agreeing with Jacob. "So, what do you think I should do?"

"I mean, Edward. I think you're the only guy in the whole world who thinks having a threesome with your ex and current girlfriend is a bad idea." Finneas said sarcastically. "For all of us, we never have any trouble when we do that."

"Speak for yourself. I never had any ex." Jacob said smugly.

"That's not a brag you think it is." Finneas turned to him and mocked. "Just imagine this, Elsa asked you that she wants to bring another girl to your relationship. Will you be fine with it?" Finneas added.

"Yes." Jacob replied without hesitation.

"What about a guy?" I asked.

"OVER MY DEAD BODY!" Jacob shouted in anger.

Finneas snorted. I snickered slightly.

Jacob suddenly asked me, "Oh. Ed. Is it fine for me to post pictures of yesterday's bachelor party?"

"Go wild."

He smiled and posted a couple pictures of him fighting the minotaur, and also him and his fiancee sitting on top of a dead dragon after they slayed it.

Finneas turned to Jacob and asked suddenly, "I'm actually quite surprised. When I heard Ed tell us the story, I thought for sure you're going to lecture him again."

Jacob's face turned serious. He sighed and said, "I think I made a mistake."

"Wait. You're getting cold feet now?" I was surprised.

"No. Never." Jacob said decisively before explaining himself. "Years ago, I told you it's bad for you to date all of those girls…"

Finneas snorted and said, "Wait. Are you trying to take back your words now?"

Jacob turned to me, ignoring Finneas and said, "Eddy. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have imposed my worldview on you."

"Wait. Jacob, what are you saying?" I was taken aback.

He stood up and approached me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "I was being unfair. I thought everyone loves the same way. But after growing up a little bit more, I realized that everyone has their own way of showing their love."

He shook his head slightly and said, "So. Ask yourself. Is this you? Is this making you happy? I'm happy because I found my perfect soulmate. But I couldn't walk down the aisle knowing that I have screwed your life up."

I was flabbergasted by his words.

He smiled and added, "So, I guess. Look inside. Introspect. I won't stand in your way, nor will I respect you any less if you decide to add some colors into your life. Of course, if you cheated, that's a different story."

I laughed a bit and said sarcastically, "It's hard for me to process this. Finneas, you have something to add?"

"I do." Finneas replied easily. "That little bitch thinks he's mature now that he's getting married. Last year he wanted to move to Ireland to open up a potato based liquor bar."

"That's a genuine business decision." Jacob snapped. "I can still do it, if it wasn't for Elsa stopping me."

The wedding was held at my mansion, on the lawn. Pepper already made the place incredibly beautiful. My cats were running around the place, curiously looking at the guests who came there.

Elsa's cousins were quite rowdy. Jacob's relatives were all giants. They talked to each other, drinking wine and eating the food made from meat from my ranch.

I laughed with Finneas and we waited for the wedding to begin. I held the ring in my inner jacket and stood near the altar, next to Jacob.

He and Elsa exchanged vows, and they finally tied the knot after seven years of dating.

I glanced at Alex who was standing beside Elsa, as she was the maid of honor. Alex glanced at me too, giving me googly eyes despite telling me we were taking a break yesterday.

"Here we go!" Elsa threw the bouquet to the rest of the women in the wedding. Enid caught it and turned to me, pointing at me with her finger and mouthed, 'You and me next.'

Alex grimaced and rolled her eyes slightly.

Before the performance started, Alex and I bumped into each other.

"So, did you think about it?" I asked her worriedly.

"Yes." She replied. "I think you, me and Abby, should get together and talk things through. I don't think you hate her. So if you and her… could make things work–"

"I'm not breaking up with you." I said firmly.

Alex's eyes shook a bit. "I never said anything about breaking up."

"Huh?"

"Yesterday. The reason I asked for a break… isn't because I was afraid of losing you. But I'm afraid that… I'll misunderstand you. For some reason, Abby knowing your secret makes me feel worse than… well," She grumbled and added, "... Now that I think about it. That's it. That's my only issue with this."

"What?" I was taken aback. "Are you sure–"

"You know. You're an ass." Alex said suddenly. "Tell me what you think. What you want. Instead of putting all of the burden on me."

She hits me on my chest.

"Decide on something. Tell me what you want to do." She added, a little annoyed.

"So, if I say that, I want to try things out?"

"I'm honestly fine with it." Alex replied easily. "We've been together for four years, but we're friends in the last four years–"

"Friends that have sex together."

"Yeah." Alex was annoyed by my quips. "What I mean is, we don't date. We don't do that. Hell, I don't really sure if I wanted that."

"Wait. Really?" I was bewildered by it.

"No. How should I explain this? Oh! Right, what I mean is, I like what we were doing before. Not the current thing. Since we started to date, everything has just been messy. We're in our twenties. I'm not even twenty yet. So yeah, let's do what other people our age do. Be stupid and make mistakes."

She held my head, and kissed me slightly. "I'll give you some time to think." She said and walked away.

…

I stood in front of the crowd holding a guitar. Jacob and Elsa were sitting right in front of me.

All 200 of the crowd sat and waited for the performance. Finneas, Billie and Alex helped me with the instruments, with Billie on the drums, Finneas on the synthesizer, and Alex holding the bass guitar.

"Today, I'll sing a new song as a gift for the bride and groom, who has been my friend for more than seven years." I said calmly.

The crowd cheered and applauded.

Phil and Claire were invited to the wedding since Elsa has been friends with Alex for a long time. Alex's parents knew Elsa's parents and they were quite close.

Claire held Phil's hand and teased him, "Wait. He's singing a new song? How can that be? I thought dating Alex is sucking all the creative juices out of him?"

Jenna's mom, who was sitting nearby, interjected slightly. "Claire dear. I know you're trying to prove a point, but putting sucking near juices in a sentence makes it seem like an innuendo, and it's probably not something you want to paint your own daughter as."

Claire froze slightly.

I took a deep breath and started the melody. The others followed me smoothly.

[Sugar- Maroon 5]

"♫♪ I'm hurting, baby, I'm broken down♫♪"

"♫♪ I need your loving, loving! I need it now♫♪"

"♫♪ When I'm without you! I'm something weak ♫♪"

"♫♪ You got me begging, begging! I'm on my knees ♫♪"

The crowd cheered. Elsa took the lead and dragged Jacob towards the stage and began dancing with him.

I smiled in satisfaction and glanced at Alex.

"♫♪ I don't wanna be needing your love! I just wanna be deep in your love ! And it's killing me when you're away, ooh, baby ♫♪"

As if I was singing to her, she noticed and giggled.

"♫♪'Cause I really don't care where you are! I just wanna be there where you are! And I gotta get one little taste ♫♪"

I paused my strumming, went to Alex, grabbed her face and kissed her in front of everyone.

The entire wedding gasped. Phil and Claire were frozen in shock.

"Did he just? Make it official? Without your blessing?" Claire's smile grew. Phil let out a burst of mirth and laughed slightly.

I went back to the center and sang the chorus excitedly, "♫♪Sugar! Yes, please♫♪"

"♫♪ Won't you come and put it down on me?♫♪" I crooned with a high pitched falsetto.

"♫♪I'm right here, 'cause I need Little love, and a little sympathy!~ ♫♪"

Alex laughed in disbelief and continued playing her bass guitar again.

"♫♪ Yeah, you show me good loving! Make it alright ! Need a little sweetness in my life ♫♪"

"♫♪Your sugar! Yes, please! Won't you come and put it down on me?♫♪"

Jacob whispered to Elsa, "I actually planned this."

"Really?" Elsa was surprised.

"Yeah. I told Edward not to be so passive, and go after what he wanted. He didn't need to repress himself anymore." Jacob added.

"That's so sweet." Elsa said and grabbed Jacob's tie, pulled him down and gave him a deep kiss.

I turned to Alex, knelt on one knee and held her hand.

♫♪My broken pieces. You pick them up. Don't leave me hanging, hanging. Come give me some♫♪"

"Oh god. No. Eddy." Claire and Phil groaned.

"♫♪When I'm without ya! I'm so insecure! You are the one thing, one thing! I'm living for♫♪"

I put the microphone down and asked her, "Can we stop all of the bullshit now? I don't want to wait anymore. Let's just be together and do whatever we want."

Alex laughed giddily and replied, "Yes."

"Great!"

"♫♪I don't wanna be needing your love! I just wanna be deep in your love♫♪"

"♫♪And it's killing me when you're away, ooh, baby♫♪"

"♫♪'Cause I really don't care where you are! I just wanna be there where you are! And I gotta get one little taste♫♪"

Haley approached Abby at the side of the party. She smiled worriedly and said, "I know what happened. I guess, you tried."

Abby smirked and said, "I'm not giving up."

"Really?" Haley was taken aback.

I danced slightly as I held the microphone, "♫♪Your sugar! Yes, please♫♪"

"♫♪Won't you come and put it down on me?♫♪"

The crowd went wild. Enid cried as her emotions got the best of her.

"This is it! I've been waiting for this for so long!"

It has been a while since she heard me sing live.

I winked at her and made her squeal.

"♫♪I'm right here! 'Cause I need♫♪"

"♫♪Little love, a little sympathy♫♪"

♫♪Yeah, you show me good loving! Make it alright! Need a little sweetness in my life!

Your sugar! (sugar!)♫♪"

Jacob held Elsa by her waist and danced with her, their eyes locked intensely together.

"♫♪Yes, please (yes, please) Won't you come and put it down on me?♫♪"

"Do you want to–" Elsa asked.

"Let's go."

They ran to the nearest empty room in my mansion.

"♫♪Yeah! I want that red velvet! I want that sugar sweet♫♪"

"♫♪Don't let nobody touch it. Unless that somebody's me♫♪"

"That's soo… dirty." Jenna inhaled deeply. "Ah, I want a boyfriend too!"

I held Alex's hand again, completely abandoning the guitar. Thankfully, Finneas and I had already recorded the instrumental before, so he played my part using the synthesiser.

"♫♪I gotta be your man There ain't no other way. 'Cause girl you're hotter than a southern California day♫♪"

"♫♪I don't wanna play no games. You don't gotta be afraid♫♪"

"♫♪Don't give me all that shy shit! No make-up on. That's my♫♪

I crooned again, "♫♪Sugar! Yes, please (please)♫♪" The confetti cannon shot in the air. Pink and white confetti danced in the air before falling to the ground.

Billie and Finneas sang the background vocals.

"♫♪Won't you come and put it down on me (down on me)?!"

"I'm right here (right here), 'cause I need ('cause I need)♫♪!"

"♫♪Little love, a little sympathy! So, baby, (yeah) you show me good loving♫♪"

I twirled Alex around and dropped her down, holding her waist and locked eyes with her. Then, I pulled her to stand straight again and twirled her to the side.

♫♪Make it alright! Need a little sweetness in my life♫♪"

Phil smiled and said, "Oh what the hell."

Claire grinned and said, "You're finally going to give them your blessing?"

"They never needed it in the first place! The two of them are the smartest people in the world. They can figure things out themselves!" Phil said, which made Claire amazed by him.

"You're so… sexy right now."

"Wait? Really?" Phil was taken aback. "I mean. Sure."

"♫♪Your sugar! (sugar!)♫♪"

"♫♪Yes, please (yes, please)♫♪"

"♫♪Won't you come and put it down on me? (Down on me)♫♪"

…

I stayed on the stage for a while, singing some songs for people to dance to. Then, I left it all to the DJ– which was just my Spotify playlist and went to join the people on the dance floor.

As I was dancing with Alex, she suddenly stopped and said, "Hey. Eddy."

I turned and looked at the direction Alex was pointing towards. Abby and Haley were standing there, and Abby asked me, "Can I steal him for a moment? Just one last dance?"

"Wait. It doesn't have to be the last." Alex said vaguely. "Huh?" Haley furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "What do you mean by that?"

"It meant that. I might be open for the three of us to try it out." Alex told Abby. "As long as we're clear that this is a throuple, not a harem." She added.

"Alex?" Haley's tone shook, and she was bewildered by the whole situation.

Alex laughed and said, "What? I'm a scientist. We do experiments."

I snickered slightly.

[Alex's commentary]

"It's not that I feel pressured to do it to keep Eddy. But, I might have some… feelings I want to explore with Abby. Like, real feelings. Something awakened in me at that bachelorette party… So… Best of both worlds, right?" She laughed excitedly.

[Commentary ended]

I danced with Abby and talked to her while we were slow dancing.

"Remember the prom night, when we danced like this?" Abby asked.

"Yeah, you look really pretty that day. And you still are pretty today."

"Nice save." She snorted and laughed. "You really saw through the traps huh?"

"I have to. Since if I am dating two girls now, the number of mines I have to sidestep will not only double, the detonation will cause me to be crippled." I joked.

"Don't worry. I'm sure I can stitch you back together." Abby added. "I did that on a couple of corpses before."

Her eyes flickered and she said, "You don't think Alex's family will not be okay with this?"

"Oh I'm terrified about what they think." I said casually, my voice a little shaky. "Phil didn't want me to date his daughter before. Right now? He might shoot me with a BB gun."

"Why not a real gun?" Abby asked.

"Because I'm sure the love he has for me, deep down in his heart, will make him pick the BB instead of the real one."

"You seem… merrier." Abby giggled. "Happier."

"Eh, I decided not to care anymore. I'm going to do what I want." I twirled her around, and then pulled her towards me.

She was taken aback, our faces were really close together. "We're going to have a lot of stuff to figure out." I said as I stared into her eyes.

She nodded and said, "One wrong move. And everything will be ruined."

"Thankfully, all of us are intelligent people. So we can make this work… right?"
