The morning light comes in soft, slipping through the thin curtains in the dining and kitchen area like it doesn't want to disturb anything. Malia goes into the kitchen, quickly placing the flowers into a vase and then picking up where she left off before I came. I'm assuming she's cooking fried rice like Gianna said.
Gianna, on the other hand, tries to take the vase from the kitchen counter. Sensing that she needs help, I instantly go to her. "Want me to put it somewhere for you?" I ask.
"Yes, please. Can you put it on the table? I'd like to look at it," she says with a timid smile, a bit shy of the request.
"Certainly. You can look at it all you want." With pride, I set the vase on the dining table. She then climbs on a chair and leans forward to inspect the flowers as if they're the most interesting thing in this entire room. She's so fascinated with it.
