After a few more hours of sprinting grey could finally see the golden fang forest.
It looked like a group of tall dark wood trees as far as the eye can see and most of it was covered in some sort of golden spider silk.
At what looked to be a gate made of spider silk was a line of animal trying to enter while some boar guards checked everyone.
Thanks to his hearing grey could hear everything that was said nearby.
The boars spoke to a ferret in a tired voice "The rules are simple here madam, no fighting in or near the webs and if you must fight there are areas for that, but if your here to trade items and food both parties must agree to a deal. And finally Before you try to cause trouble here just know while our boss is a normal wolf he is a very social one with at least three Demi god friends that helped him build this area."
Grey continued listening to all the words spoken near the silk gate and found out a few things from the more talkative beast like how lately powerful figures are rapidly appearing all over and that the leader of this forest was once a omega wolf betrayed his pack for a spider and her eggs.
After basically spying on the surroundings for a bit grey was satisfied with info he got and soon joined the line.
After a while a nearby fox that was in the line got angry as his stomach growled. "Dammit you expect me to wait patiently in line with food all around me."
No beast moved from their spot but they all glared at him angrily.
The boar at the front shook his head almost out of pity as he whistled.
"What the hell is wrong with you…? Y'all think you're safe? no your only a meal with no rights to life but to feed the strong." The next moment his fur was set ablaze like a flaming armor as he pounced at a nearby mole covered in mushrooms.
"I love pre flavored foo-ugh".
Everyone watch as the flaming foxes flames and limbs where restrained mid air by countless strings of golden silk.
A echo from all over reach everyone's ears. "You dare harm uncles dream! Then you should become a meal yourself."
Grey was immediately startled as he didn't notice anything. He quickly focused on his echolocation and ear.
And at last he noticed countless small hairy spiders all over the forest trees and along the silk walls.
'Damm, they are everywhere and I wouldn't have noticed if they didn't speak just now' grey thought shocked.
The spiders didn't attack anyone else and the line continued moving like nothing happened as the fox's body was dragged up the silk wall.
Grey watched as the spiders turn the fox into a skeleton in three slow seconds.
After finally getting to gate while ignoring all the nearby spiders he heard the tired guard call out to the crowd again like he's been doing every so often. "if you have questions about anything here come ask a guard if not just enter and don't cause trouble until midnight then it's someone else's problem and not mine."
Grey approached the exhausted guard with a very awkward face "hey I'm supposed be meeting some… um friends? Here in a few days is there somewhere I can wait or do something until then?"
The boar just let out a tired sigh. "Look kid, there a nearby place called cacoon embrace where one of the older golden wolf spiders own. Where you can sleep in a suspended bed made of silk for some ores or food."
"But something to do hmm there ain't much here all there really is are the arena, the caves and the trade district that's about it. But you'll quickly notice most of the buildings are made of spider silk here so try not to use your runes outside of certain areas."
Grey thanked the boar who looked ready to go home at a moments notice.
When he finally entered what he saw with his eyes amazed him stalls and buildings made of colored silk built around or hanging from the trees while animals of all kinds were walking and talking to each other.
He even saw a grey female wolf pleading with a pink sheep. "Please Jeb just sell me it just a bit cheaper I'll pay you back you know I'm good for it."
The sheep just shook his head "Sorry Alia but I can't keep making acceptions for you, the others already think I'm cheating on my mate with you."
Shook his stall dramatically "~come onnn~ I helped you when you were in trouble the caves just been low on crystals lately but ill pay you back." She leaned in to whisper close to jeb "I found a nest of stone fish that's gotta be enough food for weeks you can even sell it."
Jeb reluctantly agreeded, but he soon noticed greys rabbit ears pointed in their direction as he just stared off into the distance.
Jeb leaned in close to Alia's ear "that rabbit stand there in the distance was obviously listening in you might wanna take care of that first."
Greys ears went stiff as he started running in a random direction.
She jerked her head to see a rabbit running away. Her clenched tightly as purple crystals formed around her fur. "TCH, I'll be back after following his scent."
