As grey and karma went through the small underground village, they noticed how most people were asleep due to how late it was unlike the surface they were at earlier. But some were still awake as it was the night before the moon year's event where a few lucky or talented creatures would awaken their soul seed in turn giving them soul runes to control a natural element the gods made.
As they got closer to a cute green colored house made of clay and sticks covered in glowing moss. Karma said "Shhh my sister is probably sleeping already so don't wake her or it'll be a long lecture before we can go to sleep." Grey just nodded.
As they entered slowly through the front door and tried to tip toe greys ear twitched. He stopped in his track as he knew that sound, those familiar footsteps anywhere when suddenly a flying flip flop made of some type of strong leather slammed full speed into karmas face throwing him into a wall with a loud smacking sound.
"Bwhahahahaha" before grey could stop laughing at his fallen friend a metallic frying pan hit his face with the same force and loud ~bang~ echoing throughout the place.
Both young rabbits were on the floor in excruciating pain but daring not scream for fear of further angering her even more.
"Now now daisy please calm down we didn't mean to come back so late and worry you, but it is a long trip I swear." Karma pleaded.
"Oh, is that so~ then please tell me you didn't stop to snack every second you got and He didn't take a few naps along the way here because for some of the fastest rabbits you sure got here late." Daisy said with a scornful look while acting like she knew she was right.
"Well actually we just multitasked and flew here with the help of our bird frien-" karma quickly covered grey mouth with his green paws and nervously chuckled " (gulp) he's just tired from the ride I mean run here big sis i mean we made it here before midnight so can we get some sleep plzzz."
With a sinister smile only troublemakers would recognize while slow revealing a belt behind her back she said in the most sarcastic voice possible "Of you can go to sleep now let's forget all about how you both got sidetracked on the way while taking your sweet time. Not mention going through the swamp at night while predators are more active. While traveling with one such predator goodness knows how strong here. Yeah, let's forget it all and sleep like nothing happened."
"Really" grey said in an exited voice before moments later he was sent flying across the room .as his body laid slump against the front door. Karma turned to run but greys limp body was blocking the door. "Not my beautiful face" karma screamed as he only covered his face and balled up.
The next morning the boys woke up bruised and sore. "So, what did we learn." Daisy said with the sweetest smile like nothing happened. In sync they both said, "don't stop until we go where we said we would be and no side quests." Almost like depressed drones.
As they sat at the dining room table daisies paw glowed green showcasing a Flower symbol as vines set up the breakfast table. Two lime flowers came to the boys and sprayed them. Suddenly the bruises started slowly fading away like they were never there in the first place.
" I know you think I'm strict karma but it's just you and me here and I don't want you to be mauled to death by a weasel like mom and dad. Or worse completely swallowed by a bear leaving no trace of your existence." With weeping eyes, she struggled to hold back.
With sadness in his voice karma spoke almost hesitantly "I didn't mean to worry you sister we were just having some fun and lost track of time. Right grey."
"Yoh sre did" grey said with a face full of pancakes. As they looked back just to notice him already eating the food at the table ruining the sad mood. They laughed and joined in on the meal.
After eating, daisy reminded them to meet mayor oaks to receive both their awakening seeds and lecture. Grey groaned and complained for a bit while karma dragged his grey ass out the house to explore the festivities around and release tensions.
the two boys explored the festive town as everyone was celebrating moon year's eve one of thirteen chances beast get to awaken a power the gods gifted, and today is the first chance of the year meaning those who awaken today have a higher potential than others.
however, if a beast failed to awaken on all thirteen full moons when they are of age then they won't awaken no matter what they do. the only thing that could help them is a very powerful item or blessing.
Both grey and karma knew this and while karma was a bit worried and overthinking it grey was hiding his nervousness by stuffing his face with some pink bread, he somehow got his grubby paws on.
after a bit of relaxing, they went to elder oak home, but when they arrived, he was gone and his assistant blitz was handing out blue seeds from a tray to young rabbits who were participating in the awakening ceremony tonight.
she was a happy to see karma and greeted him with a smile but the moment she laid eyes on grey her eyes widened "Grey! you're going to awaken in our burrow instead of your own?"
"Yeah, I just want to be with karma to show off how amazing I will be" grey mocked while puffing out his chest.
blitz stared at him as her brown fur shivered at his word "I know this is your big day and all but please don't mess with elder oaks today it's a very special day and he doesn't need you to add on to his stress again."
she turned to face karma with a stern face "and if your inviting others a heads up would be nice what if we didn't have enough seeds or the elder just kicked him out on suspicion of pranking him again?" she questioned karma causing him to reflect on his actions.
grey just tossed the seed in his mouth without a second thought before asking her what was it she was just handing out.
she looked at grey like he was an idiot "you ate it without even! you know what i don't even care. that is an awakening seed it maximizes your potential giving you a better chance to awaken a rune on a full moon." she said as she slapped his paw away from grabbing another.
and those who eat more than one will explode during the full moon!" grey gulped at her words as he placed three, he managed to swipe when she was talking back on the tray.
In the late afternoon everyone gathered around a wooden stage while a few young ones were on the stage talking among themselves. Having already eaten their soul seeds earlier in the morning most of them were waiting till the speeches started. When an all-white bunny with a mustache and beard hopped on stage.
Everyone he walked past greeted him as mayor oaks. But when he got to where the two biggest troublemakers where he just sighed as he saw them together and awakening tonight.
"Greetings elder oaks" grey said with a sly smirk. Elder oaks broke some stone beneath his feet without moving in pure annoyance trying his best not to hurt THAT thing the pretended to be a child in front of him, it visibly took everything in his body to not hurt grey Infront of the crowd.
In a rough raspy voice, the elder spoke up "little demon I hope now that you're finally growing up you stop all the pranks and thievery. But knowing how crappy your attitude is, maybe just maybe the gods will give you the power to control crap itself" he laughed menacingly; while all the other watching thought how petty. Not knowing what the young one put him through time and time again probably aging him an extra 20 years.
"Yeah yeah yeah just get on with the show old man just get on with so I can take a snack break." Grey feeling exhausted from all his naps and meals.
"It's not yet time the moons not yet up and the sun is only halfway but everyone please get to your assigned areas so we can prepare. And you! No funny business this is a serious event for everyone participating not just you two now before we begin, please join me for a moment of silence for all our fallen comrades may the moon goddess guide their souls to a better life."
everyone bowed their heads in respect before chanting in unison "MAY goddess Selena guide their souls to a better life." after a few moments of silence everyone lifted their heads.
"we are almost ready so use the restrooms get your food and then take your seats because I have a good feeling about this year." elder oaks said with a malice grin.
