According to the rules, Heaven's path opens once every fifty years, as a reward for those who contribute exceptionally to the church.
Though there are exceptions.
During the years of the church's dormancy, Heaven's path hadn't opened for eight hundred full years!
In those eight hundred years, no one made significant contributions to the church, so the path remained closed.
The last person to enter Heaven's path was the Black Bishop.
