"Including us?"
Julius Reed asked aloud.
The old man's answer surprised him somewhat.
Since this world has collapsed, how can one not leave?
"Anyone in this world naturally includes both you and us." The old man looked into the distance, speaking with a bit of despair: "Although life here is torturous enough, at least there is still a bit of freedom. Even if I'm locked in prison every day, I can still practice swordsmanship."
"But once over there, we'd be slaves. Worse off than now. Slaves are not people, just tools. Maybe shortly after we get there, most of us will be dead."
The old man turned his head, and a patch of eerie blue light illuminated behind him.
These lights were the surviving telekinesis.
Or, one could say, wandering souls.
For them, the most painful thing was surviving.
If they had died directly in the previous catastrophe, perhaps they wouldn't be suffering the way they were now.
Everyone wants to live, but what if living is worse than dying?
