She realized this night had been utterly horrifying—her heart could barely take it anymore.
She glanced at the time—it was already eleven o'clock. 'Ian should be asleep by now, right?'
'What in the world did Evan Fairchild and Ian talk about?!'
Ultimately, she decided to call Ian. She simply couldn't wait until tomorrow to find out what had been said.

Ian Monroe had been fighting off sleep, waiting for his mother's call.
"Mom! Did you get your phone back?"
Hearing Ian's voice, Melody Monroe's heart instantly softened. "Sweetheart, you're not asleep yet?"
"I was worried about you because you lost your phone."
"When you called my phone, did a man answer?"
"Yeah, he said to wait for you to get your phone. So Ian waited too."
"Did he say anything else?"
"No."
Melody Monroe sighed. "Don't worry about me anymore. Be a good boy and get some sleep. You have school tomorrow."
