Chapter 1 - A Fleeting Sunset

''I am so tired.... so damn tired''

I mutter as I survey the come- to -battlefield.

It use to be a lush forest bursting with fauna and flora, now all that remained where a few animals bounding and scurrying away from the aftermath.

Bodies of men lay strewn across the land , forming puddles of liquid life as their souls departed from this God forsaken world.

I crouch down slightly.

Keeping in mind to pay attention to my surrounding in case of an ambush , gazing at my worn down reflection in the pool of blood formed beneath my boots.

I had seen better days yet this still would never compare to the worst.

'Gwen is gonna have my head for this, if not my hide for damaging my armor' .

Taking time to slowly remove my silver crested pauldrons as well as greaves to enable me more agile movements.

Reaching deep within myself for nothing more than a moment and with practiced ease

I focused a strand of aether from my core and let it flow through my ears aiming to detect any slight sound that would further delay my rest from the arduous battle that had taken place.

The pungent stench of Iron stung my nose as I sat to recollect my thoughts.

U see, I wish this was a regression, transmigration or any like story from all the novels and media I had consumed in my childhood.

Unfortunately that wish was cast upon the rocks and torn apart by reality.

This world.....

This planet had witnessed the event known to all mankind as the 'Falling'.

Silly name, I know, yet it bore so many damn consequences.

The sun which use to bring the world light and warmth even unloading a bit of the burden of life one day

'Fell' out of the sky.

The world was consumed in darkness for what we estimated was a day as we couldn't track it unless counted by hours.

Usually things that would've followed would have been a fall in communication

As network and cell phone towers would have collapsed as we had all read in books or articles.

No Such Thing Happened.

That's what made everything so much more unbelievable, the news worked as usual but no one could see outside their houses ,as the world had been blanketed in darkness.

A worldwide lock down was ensued.

People initially panicking began to calm down when nothing else took place, some even chose to try and find their way through the darkness.

Candles, lamps and other miscellaneous light sources seem to work normally yet the light from cellphones and torches were seemingly absorbed into the darkness.

The world experienced pure silence for the first time in centuries.

'Days' passed as we entered this lull

Until....

'paramprahprah prahhhhhh'

A single trumpet resounded throughout the world. No one knew where it sounded from yet we all instinctively knew what it meant.

The Start of New Era and the End of the Old one

In the darkest time of humanity a single light rose and shed its 'warmth' over the earth.

No one dared to call it a sun because we all knew that Abomination was nothing but a precursor to what was yet to be unveiled to the world.

We got neither warning nor sign.

Just plunged straight into what was knowing as the N.I.G.H.T for generations to come.

The day became mankind's greatest foe and the night became our safe haven.
