Although they had to keep fighting the Supplicant Tyrants, Sun Liao gave orders to a few Spirit Warriors who weren't absolutely essential. They immediately went to Emperor Weide's corpse. If Sun Liao had his way, he would simply toss the body aside and throw it into a hole in the ground, or even simply let it be devoured by savage beasts. After what he had done to his brother's family, he didn't deserve any better. It was as if he killed Sun Liao's own parents before he even knew them. In fact, Sun Liao was probably even madder at Emperor Weide than his own brother. Indeed, Cao Yun had a completely different attitude.
Now that Emperor Weide was dead, Cao Yun felt all his anger and resentment vanish. Not only was the man dead, but his very soul had been destroyed, obliterated. Absolutely nothing of the man who had ordered his family massacred remained. Thus, Cao Yun didn't feel any need to hold on to his resentment. Maybe it was because of his work on the Turbid Demons, but it felt useless to cling to emotions that were already resolved. As long as his family's memory was restored, he couldn't care less about a dead man. Of course, he would still make sure that future Emperor Huang Cixi found and executed all the soldiers who had killed his own blood, or committed any other crime under the name of Emperor Weide. Sadly, considering the state of the Hongchen Kingdom, they probably wouldn't have a lot of people to execute.
Honestly, it was more than likely that future Emperor Huang Cixi would overlook minor things. She would probably execute more or less secretly those who had killed innocent people or committed terrible actions. Cao Yun could live with that. Strangely enough, he did feel lighter. Emperor Weide's death had appeased him even more than he had thought, certainly more than if he had killed him himself. In a very twisted sense, he felt grateful toward Emperor Weide. Maybe Emperor Weide had died in such a manner so that he could have a grandiose death rather than being killed by Cao Yun's seals. But Cao Yun thought that he had been sincere. Most likely, he had been sincere this entire time. Unfortunately, their views were simply incompatible at their very core.
The Spirit Warriors grabbed Emperor Weide's corpse and took it to safety so that it would be preserved from the battle. Holding a large ceremony for the entire Hongchen Kingdom to pay homage to Emperor Weide would be important for the people. Future Emperor Huang Cixi would need it to strengthen her authority as well, to show the full continuity of the line of Emperor Nuwa. Each Emperor was chosen by his predecessor based on merit alone, this was a core tenet of the Hongchen Kingdom and the School of Ren Dao. So it was important for a newly appointed emperor to show his legitimacy by walking in the steps of his predecessor. Huang Cixi would do just that.
Now that Demon God Da Mo's Demon Soul was fully out and visible to all, the Supplicant Tyrants were even more defensive. As such, Sun Liao and the Spirit Warriors could lessen their efforts and try to recover. This was the perfect opportunity to grab Emperor Weide's body. Of course, this would have been a great opportunity to strike back. However, attacking a Demon Soul wasn't something just anyone could do. Any physical attack would be useless, and most Mortal Warriors couldn't manifest enough Qi to injure such a powerful soul. In other words, only Spirit Warriors could injure Demon God Da Mo. Sadly, even they probably couldn't hurt him very much. Only Sages had a real chance.
On this battlefield, the last two Sages were already dying. Sect Leader Xuan's throat was covered in blood. The cloth he had used was now fully wet with blood and adhering to his skin. On the other hand, Matriarch Huang had a hole the size of an arm in her lower abdomen. Even if they survived this battle, they probably didn't have very long to live anyway. Mankind had recently gained three Sages and would lose them all in one day. That truly was a tragedy.
Thankfully, mankind also had an Exalted Demon. Apparently, Demon God Da Mo had completely forgotten about the young man he had seen. To be fair, his meat puppet had died, and his Demon Soul had been exposed. He was a bit desperate. But he could feel his victory. The two Sages were in no state to oppose him. Moreover, he could feel his very own blood down below. With no hesitation at all, Demon God Da Mo decided to dive down. He went toward the Devil's Jail, fully expecting to be attacked.
To his shock, the humans relented their attacks. Those weak morons had been shocked by the death of their emperor! Demon God Da Mo couldn't wait to see them react to his actual body when he came back. It would take him a few years, probably decades, to have a fully grown Accomplished Demon body. Hopefully, he would be able to produce an Exalted Demon body in less than fifty years. By sacrificing enough humans and demons, he might even make a Reborn Demon body, on the verge of breaking through into the Immortal Demon realm. Demon God Da Mo knew that he was daydreaming a little. But it was actually possible for him to become an Immortal Demon. Sadly, his Demon Soul was getting old. Although it could live longer than a body of flesh and blood, it was still mortal. Just becoming an Immortal Demon would more than double his lifespan. Typical Reborn Demons could live two millennia, while even the weakest 1st-grade Immortal Demon could live at least five millennia. And late Immortal Demons could live for fifty millennia and more.
Demon God Da Mo finally got to the Devil's Jail. His Demon Soul went underneath the tower and sank underground. While using his stealth, Cao Yun was following Demon God Da Mo. Now was the last stage of all his plans. Although he had several fail-safe plans, this truly was the culmination of everything else. If somehow Demon God Da Mo could gain full control of his Reborn Demon body and break free, he would eradicate all humans in the Hongchen Kingdom in a matter of months, if not weeks. Besides, absolutely no one could stand before him. This truly would be the end of his opposition on the Piaolu planet. What brought Cao Yun some peace was that this wouldn't make Demon God Da Mo invincible in the universe. However, if he were dead, Cao Yun wouldn't really care about that, to be fair. Still, if he were to die, he would prefer for Demon God Da Mo to die soon after, too. Of course, the best option was not to die. Cao Yun firmly believed in the plan that consisted of not dying.
Demon God Da Mo was surprised by the Devil's Jail. He immediately realized that this was an artifact from mankind before his attack, during the Legendary Era. Thanks to his time in the Withering Fusang Domains, Demon God Da Mo had lived for much more than two millennia in that universe. As a child, he had heard about the great war that had opposed the Empyrean Human Empire to the Zhengxue Empire ruled by High Lord Asura.
According to the stories he had heard as a child, the war had been absolutely cataclysmic. Entire galaxies had been destroyed. In the end, the Empyrean Human Empire had fallen. But the Zhengxue Empire didn't survive very long after that. Both Empyrean Human Emperor and High Lord Asura had died in battle. Because he was fascinated with these stories as a young boy, Demon God Da Mo had used their two names to create his new identity of Empyrean Asura. Clearly, it hadn't brought him luck...
Demon God Da Mo resented himself for not having found out about the origin of this tower. He had been too busy with his campaign in the Withering Fusang Domains. Maybe he should have spent more time exploring this Piaolu planet. After finding a few ruins, he had basically decided that it wasn't worth his time. Still, the Palace of Supreme Wisdom had been a good discovery. At this moment, Demon God Da Mo wondered if that old spirit Dian Mo was still alive. It might be a good idea to go through the Palace of Supreme Wisdom. In fact, it might be a good place to retreat. As a mere soul, simply being exposed to the outside environment was corroding him. The worst part was the Sun, but the very Qi in the air was clearly slowly biting at him. It was as if he were covered in an infinite number of tiny ants. Although he couldn't really feel their bite, he knew that they would devour him if given enough time.
Finally, Demon God Da Mo reached the foundation of the Devil's Jail. Suddenly, he couldn't control his excitement. Not only was there a drop of blood, but there was an entire ocean of blood, contained within a complete Reborn Demon body. Demon God Da Mo simply had to enter this body, and he would be a Reborn Demon once again. Besides, this was his actual flesh and blood. So his Demon Soul would feel perfectly at home in there. In his excitement, Demon God Da Mo could see himself ruling over the entire Piaolu planet. He could see his dreams of conquest. He would build an empire that spanned farther than the Empyrean Human Empire and the Zhengxue Empire combined. He would find the secret to merge humans and asura. In fact, he would also be able to merge deva into his bloodline as well. Demon God Da Mo was fascinated by the stories of his childhood about the Three Jade Saints, just like Cao Yun, in a way.
With no hesitation and without inspecting the body, Demon God Da Mo immediately entered it. Nothing opposed him, and he entered the large red body. The very next moment, his aura spread as if it exploded. Even above the Devil's Jail, the humans could feel his powerful, murderous intent. This truly was a Reborn Demon. There was no fighting such an abomination. Although he wasn't at the equivalent of the God realm, he was a god compared to Spirit Warriors. The chief elders remembered the day when Mo Tian took over that body. Back then, they had almost been killed, and Mo Tian's soul had been a Spirit Warrior. Demon God Da Mo's soul was actually the soul of a Reborn Demon. Worse than that, it was his actual body as well. Obviously, he would be able to control it much better than Mo Tian.
All that being said, the Spirit Warriors didn't panic. Indeed, the chief elders knew that it was part of the plan. It would have been better if they had been able to obliterate Demon God Da Mo without relying on this crazy plan. Now, it was make or break. If they failed, the entire Hongchen Kingdom would fall. Besides, most of the plan relied on Cao Yun. The young man could feel a heavy burden on his shoulders. For that moment, the three Sages had risked and given their lives so that Cao Yun would be as powerful as possible. The young man wasn't exhausted at all. In fact, he felt better than ever now that Emperor Weide was dead. Maybe he had taken that into consideration before sacrificing his life.
Cao Yun's plan had several layers. Unfortunately, each layer had an increasingly higher risk of failure. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to burn through them all. Sadly, he felt as though he would have to. In fact, he felt as though he would have to go even beyond his initial plans. Today, Demon God Da Mo had to die. There was no alternative. Or rather, the alternative was so bad that there was no point thinking about it in the first place. Everyone present was ready to give their lives, knowing that this was mankind's ultimate battle. This was the final day of the war. As a matter of fact, this was the final day of the Great War that had started thirty millennia ago when Emperor Nuwa had rebelled, or even fifty millennia ago when Demon God Da Mo had enslaved mankind.
Cao Yun and everyone present could feel the weight of history. Either they would become legends or mankind's history would end right here, right now.
Releasing part of his 'Ashen Feather Seal', Cao Yun appeared physically. The young man was floating above the Devil's Jail. He made several mudras with his hands while chanting mantras. No one could understand a word he was saying as he was speaking in forgotten tongues from the Empyrean Human Empire. Today, it had evolved into Nuhua, but Nuhua speakers could barely understand a word, as even the intonations were different. Even without understanding, all the humans sensed a profound origin behind those words, deeply connected to their own origins.
The Devil's Jail rose a little as it began to shine. Ancient symbols appeared all over the Devil's Jail. Within Cao Yun, Dian Mo was helping as well. In the Palace of Supreme Wisdom, Chief Elder Suxian was also helping, using array formations to push the Devil's Jail to its limit. Right now, they were using everything left in the ancient Empyrean Human Emperor Seal. Between Cao Yun and the Devil's Jail, the Imperial Defamation Stamp appeared. Suddenly, it crashed down and collided with the Devil's Jail, the actual Empyrean Human Emperor Seal.
Thousands of swords emerged from the Empyrean Human Emperor Seal and sank deep into the ground. Each sword was connected to the Empyrean Human Emperor Seal with large chains. As the chains went taut, the Empyrean Human Emperor Seal rapidly sank down as if pulled down by those swords firmly stuck in the ground. Even underground, swords emerged.
Demon God Da Mo had no time to appreciate his new body. Thousands of swords pierced him everywhere. The old demon reacted in time and used his 'Divine Corpse Burial Armor'. With his actual body and blood, this technique was much more impressive. It was as if his skin was made of Silk Gold. However, the swords did pierce his skin. They didn't go much further than that, but they certainly pierced his skin. It was as if he were covered in acupuncture needles. The big difference was that they were connected to chains. The chains coiled around Demon God Da Mo's body and pulled him apart.
Then, the Empyrean Human Emperor Seal crashed down on him.
