Chapter 33 - CH 33:

Now they were circled by dozens of armed humans, and from the look of it, they weren't normal people. From the type of ammo they had loaded that Leo noticed by the smell.

No normal law enforcement would use silver bullets. Also, those people smelled like someone who played with death for everyday work.

Looking at Loyed, who was waiting for his command, Leo sighed and raised his hands. Loyed, despite the confusion, did the same—expecting Leo to slip away instead.

The group got closer and clamped their hands in cuffs. From the smell, they were silver alloy, and Leo could sense some enchantment on them, despite being useless against him.

"You're under arrest for invading and sabotaging a mission site. You have the right to remain silent."

At first the solder trying to put leo hand behind his hand founding himself trying to move rock.

But thankfully leo just lower his hand in front of him the solder loojed at leo for second befor putting the

Taking Loyed's pair of short daggers and Leo's gun and sword, they sat them in the back of a truck. Along with them, five armed humans were watching.

Loyed leaned back, closing his eyes. And while at it, he started to ask Leo,

"What the hell are you thinking?" Loyed said. "You know we could slip away, right?"

Leo sighed internally at the short sight of his friend. "And how would we know what we're dealing with?"

"From the ammo and gear they had, they probably don't get in normal situations," Leo said. "And you remember what we did in that place called Mission Place? They're probably hunters."

"Oh, so you think to use them to get into their base?" Loyed asked, getting Leo's meaning.

"Yeah, it'll be interesting," Leo answered, looking at the people in front of them in tactical setup. Surprisingly, one of them was frowning at them.

"What's wrong, soldier? Is there a problem?" Leo asked, not really minding the carefulness in their work.

After seconds of silence, the soldier in question hit the back of the truck—in code. Soon, it stopped.

"What were you talking about?" the soldier asked, surprising Leo and Loyed.

As their telepathic talk was supposed to be undetectable, and now they frankly got caught that easily.

"Wow, how did you figure that?" Leo asked purely from curiosity, but sadly he didn't get an answer, so he sighed. "Well, I'll go first, I guess. He asked me why we're cooperating with you guys…"

With a raised eyebrow, the soldier asked again, "You mean you're here because you want to, not because you're forced?"

Somehow her voice had humor in it, finding his words more of a joke than anything. After all, the restraint on him could make even some of the strong creatures vulnerable.

Leo just shrugged his shoulder and snapped the cuffs open. "If you're saying that this is restraint against us, then yeah, you may try something else."

His action earned him weapon points from all the soldiers, and Loyed, knowing Leo was just picking fun, snapped his own, stressing the people around even more.

"This is the leader of the transport group. We need L5 transport here," the leader said, signaling to the others to step out of the van.

Taking off her mask, surprisingly it was a woman. "The name is Lara Croft," extending her hand to shake it. "Sorry for the rough handling."

"Leonard Rageheart. It's your job. I assume you're a hunter team?" shaking her hand.

Lara frowned, recognizing the name. After all, the background Leo chose was a genius writer and business man, making him quite the famous name despite his low social exposure and almost no pictures of him or his family.

"As in the head of the Rageheart family, and the owners of the Silver Leo Company?" she asked warily.

"Yup. Want to see IDs?" Leo said playfully. "Also, will the new ride take time? I have a dinner to catch."

The only man that kept his captain calm raised his eyebrow. "I think you don't understand your condition."

Not liking the manner of speaking he used, Leo pointed at him. After all, intimidating or not, they caught this man in illegal hunt, and in the middle of a residential area, making it a crime worthy of punishment—at least for him.

"Now you are under arrest for not only illegal hunt, additionally blowing our cover. Now dozens, if not hundreds, of dark siders are running around the city—not thanks to you guys." He continued, stopped by the laughter of Loyed.

"What?" the soldier asked, confused, only for Leo to ask, "From the look of it, you didn't investigate what really happened inside, right?"

"We already cleaned your mess, so you're welcome," Loyed said, surprising them. Then it hit them—the ash they found around the building. At first, they thought they burned the ones they wanted to cut off.

"You mean the ash and all the fighting marks were you guys cleaning?" Lara asked. "Where were the bodies then?"

"Eh? They turn to ash after we kill them," Leo answered. "And you probably found a huge quantity of that, right?"

Snort. "Now you think you're light holders?" the man snorted, but stopped talking after the leader signaled to him.

"Just to make sure," Lara said seriously, "you know that literally illegal hunt, and in the middle of the city." She said it, giving up.

Loyed looked at Leo, knowing anything he said from here would flash light on them.

"Well, we technically were out of social connection since a young age, until a year or so ago," Leo said and sighed. "The only reason we attacked was doing a favor for a friend looking for a missing person."

"But when we arrived and saw what happened, we couldn't just stay there and watch like you all did," Loyed said, pointing at how they just sat there and let them devour humans.

"You…" the soldier was about to snap, but seeing the look in Loyed's eyes change, he knew better to take it with a slice. After all, no matter the reason, it was the truth.
