After a moment's hesitation, Big Brother Kang responded.
They say the older you get, the wiser you become. Of course, Cai Xiufen could sense something was up, but since they were still on the road, she suppressed her suspicions for now, deciding to figure things out once they got home.
About halfway there, Luo Yanqing deliberately slowed his pace. Seeing this, Kang Li was puzzled: "What's wrong?"
"Get on."
He walked to Kang Li and bent his knees—clearly, he was going to carry her the rest of the way.
"No need."
Kang Li shook her head: "I'm not tired."
Luo Yanqing didn't say a word, just hoisted her up onto his back: "Be good and don't move around." His girl wasn't heavy at all; carrying her didn't take any effort.
"The road's not easy to walk, so carrying me will only slow you down," she said softly, lying on his back, worrying about him. "Let me down, I don't want you to tire yourself."
Luo Yanqing's lips curled into a slight smile: "It's easy for me to carry you."
