"Kang Li, I talked things out with your brother, and he said we could try dating for a while. If we both think it's right, we'll officially be together."
Kang Li was reading, but when she heard Wang Pan, she paused, looked up at her, and smiled, "Congratulations."
"Thank you!" Wang Pan looked pure and innocent, as if nothing awkward had ever happened between her and Kang Li. She leaned her head against Kang Li's shoulder: "I know why you've changed from how you used to be. You're just being protective, thinking I shouldn't start doubting your brother because of a few rumors."
"That's right. I'm very protective."
Kang Li's eyes were calm, not feeling at all that being protective was wrong. Besides, now that Wang Pan had said it out loud, Kang Li felt even less need to hold back.
"I'm super protective too!" Wang Pan settled back into her own seat, looking at Kang Li seriously: "From now on, we're family. If anyone bullies you or talks bad about you, I'll stand up for you!"
