Austin nodded.
The shoes are too big; you can just wait until your feet grow before wearing them.
"Let's go, to the toy section."
Kang Li called Austin to follow her. The two followed the mall's signs and made their way to the children's toy section. Kang Li said, "Boys like cars, airplanes and those kinds of toys. Girls like..."
Her tone was gentle. Kang Li looked at the toys on the shelf and talked to Austin about what boys and girls like in toys.
Half an hour passed in a flash, and the two walked out of the mall.
Austin put the bags he was carrying into the trunk of his car, then took the bags from Kang Li's hands: "Thank you!"
"No need to be so polite, we're friends after all."
Kang Li smiled and said goodbye to Austin: "You should head back. Pack up everything you need to take."
As she spoke, she waved her hand: "See you."
Austin nodded: "See you."
He only looked away after watching Kang Li's car drive off into the distance.
There was a hint of sadness in his eyes.
