Fang Su stared straight into Kang Li's eyes, and saw Kang Li's gaze unwavering. For a moment, her heart was a mess of emotions: clearly the woman before her was her daughter, even sitting there it was as if she glowed, but in her eyes, there was no trace of her birth mother—not even a bit.
Because she couldn't see any ripple in the other's eyes caused by herself.
Did she regret what she'd done back then?
Fang Su wasn't sure. She only knew she couldn't endure hardship, only knew she wanted a good life.
"How's your dad doing?"
"Hmm?"
Kang Li picked up her water cup and sipped quietly. Hearing Fang Su's words, she raised her eyes and looked at her: "Thank you for your concern, Lady Fang. My dad couldn't be better."
A flash of unsightliness crossed Fang Su's face, then she said, "You don't have to talk to me like that. I know there's nothing left between your dad and me. I won't seek him anymore."
"It's good that Lady Fang can let it go."
Kang Li's tone was light, emotionless.
