Chapter 266 - 00265. A tragedy of unparalleled portion.

Ezekiel walked calmly down a cement enclosed hallway with his hands in his pockets as he whistled Don't Fear the Reaper. Spread out behind him on the ground of the hallway were men and women clothed in tactical gear. All of them showed no signs of physical trauma, but each one had their eyes open as they stared at nothing.

Ahead of Ezekiel a man stepped out of a side hallway and glanced towards the noise. Before he could even focus on Ezekiel, his eyes went blank and he collapsed on the ground with a heavy thud. Another man said something in a foreign language before he stepped out into the hallway to check his companion, only to collapse next to him a moment later.

Ezekiel kept whistling as he ignored the two bodies and turned down the side hallway. As he walked, the scene repeated over and over until he reached an area that was sealed off with a thick security door. The two guards were on the ground already, eyes still open but almost lifeless as they stared at nothing. When Ezekiel reached the door, he paused for a moment as he pulled a cylinder from his waist.

A purple light filled the area as a distinctive hum rang out before Ezekiel pushed the tip of the purple light beam towards the lock. As soon as they touched each other, the lock glowed orange then yellow before it melted and started to ooze down the rest of the door. Ezekiel twisted the blade towards the wall where the main bolt was before he also melted it into slag. He repeated the process for the top and bottom lock bolts before the door slowly swung open after being freed.

Ezekiel turned off his light saber and placed it back on his waist as he stepped past the now open security door. The sealed off area had more thick security doors spaced evenly along each side of the hallway, but Ezekiel ignored all of them as he continued towards the end of the hallway. About a minute later he stepped out of the hallway into what looked like a laboratory filled with scientific equipment, cages and a few people.

Two of the people were young, looking to be around their late teens. The other person in the room was a middle aged man with a shaved head, blue eyes and a weird monocle which covered his right eye. He was busy typing furiously on his computer as a wall of monitors showed the base's defenses being easily overpowered. As for the other two, they were cautiously watching Ezekiel as he stood in the middle of the room with his hands in his pockets.

One of them was a girl with rich auburn colored hair with green eyes that flickered red as red magic flashed around her hands. She wore a simple red colored dress that covered most of her body along with a black leather jacket. Next to her stood a young man about half a head taller with striking silver hair and cold, ice blue colored eyes. He wore a gray, dull silver colored jumpsuit that hugged his toned body. Even though he stood still, his arms would blur sometimes as he watched Ezekiel with narrowed eyes.

Ezekiel finished whistling before he smiled at the two of them and said, "No need to look so hostile, I'm here to rescue both of you."

"Don't listen to his nonsense and capture him. We will need him as a hostage if we want to get out of here alive."

"Maybe for you. But no one will be able to catch me if I decide to run, even if I have to carry an extra person." The young man said in a confident tone as he glanced at the girl next to him.

The older man glanced up from his computer with narrowed eyes as he said in a threatening tone towards the silver haired man, "Remember what I told you, if you try to leave here without me. You'll be dead before you reach the edge of the compound."

"That's a lie."

Three sets of eyes all focused on Ezekiel as he smiled and added, "He's been trying to turn back on the bombs planted inside of both of you for the last ten minutes without success."

As the two younger people exchanged a quick glance, the older man shouted, "I told you to capture him and don't listen to his nonsense!"

The young man frowned at the command but seemed to flicker out of existence a moment later. Ezekiel watched him approach as if speed walking, but as the young man reached out to grab him, Ezekiel smirked. His hand passed through Ezekiel as if he wasn't even there and before he could fully process what happened, Ezekiel reached out and twisted his extended arm into a hold behind the young man's back.

The man tried to use his speed to get away but Ezekiel applied some pressure at that exact moment. It caused the man to grunt in pain and no longer move before Ezekiel said, "I'll let you go if you promise not to attack me again."

"Restrain him or you're both dead." The older man coldly said as he stared at the girl.

The young woman's hands glowed red as power condensed around them and her eyes narrowed when she said, "Let go of my brother and surrender."

"I'll let him go if he promises not to attack me again… And like I said before, he holds no power over you two. The bombs placed inside both of you are already disabled, you have no reason to listen to him anymore."

"Shut up!"

"Look at him, you see how he's sweating? He's nervous you won't follow his directions because he has no real power over you two anymore." Ezekiel said as he gestured towards the man with his free hand.

The man in question gritted his teeth slightly as his eyes narrowed before he said, "Don't listen to his bullshit and capture him, now."

The girl shared a glance with her brother who shrugged his free arm slightly before she whipped around and a bolt of red light shot out and slammed into the man. He was launched off his feet and impacted the wall not far away with a resounding thud. He dropped to the ground dazed for a moment before he yelled, "What the hell do you think you're doing?!?"

The girl raised her glowing hands and aimed them at the man as she said, "Hoping I wasn't lied to."

The man slowly pulled himself up as he spat out, "Even if the bombs are disabled and you escape here, you'll never be free. The organization behind me knows all about you two, you'll be hunted down no matter where you go!"

Ezekiel chuckled as he released the young man's arm who instantly appeared next to the girl and rubbed his wrist with a pained expression. Ezekiel focused on the older man as he said, "You tried to send out a distress call, but I'm the only one who heard it. No one from your organization is coming and none of them will ever know about these two being here or their powers."

"Bullshit, they have copies of all my research data, they know all about these two and will stop at nothing to collect them and study them."

The siblings shared a concerned look before Ezekiel said, "That's another lie. He never shared anything about you two, otherwise you wouldn't be here right now. You most likely would have gone through indoctrination and brainwashing to become useful members of the group."

Ezekiel stepped forward but kept a safe distance from the siblings as he approached the man who was cradling his ribs with one hand as he leaned heavily against the wall. He was only a few feet from the man before he glanced over his shoulder at the siblings and added in an ominous tone, "That is of course if they found you useful, otherwise they would have dissected you both and used your bodies for experiments."

Ezekiel heard the sound of a gun being cocked and turned around to see a gun barrel of a pistol pointed at his head. He glanced at it for a moment before he looked at the man with a single raised eyebrow and asked, "You really think I'm afraid of a gun that isn't loaded?"

The man's eyes narrowed and his finger squeezed the trigger a tiny bit as he gritted out through his labored breathing, "I personally chambered a round before you stepped into my laboratory."

Ezekiel stepped closer letting the barrel press against his forehead as he asked in a teasing tone, "Are you sure about that?"

"Positive."

"Then pull the trigger."

The man winced slightly as he took another breath before he asked in a condescending tone, "And kill my best chance at escape? Do you think I'm that stupid?"

"Apparently, since you think that gun is loaded when it clearly isn't." Ezekiel said as he reached out to grab the weapon in a slow telegraphed arc.

The man didn't hesitate and moved the gun slightly to miss Ezekiel's head before he pulled the trigger and a dull click was heard. The man's eyes widened as confusion filled his face before Ezekiel snatched the gun from his hand. Ezekiel quickly cocked the gun and pointed it at one of the man's knees before he pulled the trigger. A gun shot rang out and a bullet tore through the man's knee before he collapsed to the ground screaming while clutching his knee.

Ezekiel glanced at the gun in his hand before he said in a surprised, almost mocking tone, "Would you look at that, it was loaded."

Ezekiel dropped the magazine from the gun and unhambered the bullet already loaded before he tossed the gun to the side and knelt down by the now whimpering man as he said, "That looks pretty bad, but don't worry I'll call a medic over for you in a minute."

"Fuck you." The man spat out through gritted teeth as he clutched at his belt that he was tightening around his leg.

Ezekiel smiled as he stood up and said, "Don't worry, I won't let you bleed out Mr. Strucker. I need you alive after all."

A moment later a distinctive hum filled the area along with a purple light before the man screamed again as the smell of burnt meat filled the air. The light and noise disappeared just as quickly as it came but the man on the ground snarled, "You cut off my leg!"

"To prevent you from bleeding out. If anything, you should be happy. I just saved your life." Ezekiel said in a cheerful tone before he focused on the man and added, "Sleep for now, you'll feel better once you wake up."

The man slumped to the ground almost lifeless except for the slow rise of his chest before Ezekiel turned towards the siblings and asked, "Now how about we get those bombs out of you both and then go have some pizza?"

Both of them instinctively took a step back as they stared at the man in front of them with a hint of terror in their eyes. Ezekiel noticed the shift and put on a friendly smile as he spread his arms apart in a non threatening gesture and said, "Now, now, no need to be afraid, I'm an acquaintance of your father. The two of you could almost consider me your uncle."

The two siblings frowned slightly before the girl said, "Our parents are dead."

"Your foster parents and mother are, but your biological father is alive and well. He doesn't know you exist though, otherwise he would have come himself to rescue you two."

The siblings shared another glance before the young man cautiously asked, "You really came here to rescue us?"

"One of several reasons I'm here, but it was definitely on my list of things to do today." Ezekiel said with a friendly smile before he added, "So bomb removal and then pizza?"

"What's pizza?"

Ezekiel's eyes widened as he asked, "You've never had pizza?!?"

As the two siblings shook their heads Ezekiel instantly pulled out his phone and sent out a text message before he said, "Don't worry, I can definitely fix this. We have an hour to get those bombs taken care of and then I'll treat you both to one of the best foods in the world."

Before the two of them could respond, Ezekiel opened a portal next to himself and dragged the unconscious man through it. Once he was on the other side he glanced over his shoulder at the siblings and said, "Come along now, we have very important things to do."
