[Third person POV]
When Heath and Fiona arrived at the hospital, they found Gian and Clover ready for them; it seemed they had already talked about themselves.
"Hey guys," Fiona says, walking to Clover's side, "How have you been? I could come check on you today, but it was busy."
"It is okay, Selby came, she brought me the tasty sushi I like so much," Clover says, "I missed it since I couldn't eat it during the pregnancy."
"That is very thoughtful of her." Fiona says awkwardly, "Is anything the matter?"
"How has your wound been? I was so engrossed with my baby, I didn't ask," Clover says.
"I am managing; it gets sore here and there, but it is getting better," Fiona explains.
Heath's face had lit up; it seemed they had finally noticed that his worries were not just his crying wolf.
"I talked to Jennie, she explained how you could conduct a meeting without having painkillers as you kept having headaches," Gian said.
"It is nothing, trust me, I just.…..."
"Fiona, can you be honest for once?" Heath yells, bringing Fiona back to reality.
"It…... it hurts, it is always itchy. I spoke to the doctors, and they gave me some ointment, but it doesn't help; it is always painful," she finally says.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Clover asks firmly, "Why did it have to be Heath telling us but not you?"
"I…. you just had your baby,"
"Is this the first time that something like this has happened?" Clover says, "We spoke to Selby and she told us about your habits, Fiona. Do you make us bad friends?"
"Well, we are sort of bad friends for not noticing how we had been burdening you, but..." Clover says before bursting out into tears, "There is just no logical explanation; we have deeply wronged you."
"It is okay, guys, I didn't mind," Fiona says.
"But if we do, we think that the only way you think could help us is to keep neglecting yourself," Gian says. He takes a deep breath before saying, "I am granting you a two-month sick leave; you need it for yourself."
"Oh… thank you," Fiona says lazily.
"And we will be hiring a nanny for Lewis," he said firmly, "You will be focusing on healing and getting that stupid nurse."
"Will you manage..."
"We will manage Fiona, we are adults, we can take care of ourselves," Clover says firmly, "I can't believe I am saying this, but I think you should invest all this time in your relationship and your health, please."
Clover's resolve was surely final; she could see in her eyes how hurt she must have been. "I am sorry, I didn't think it would be bad to just ignore it a little bit," Fiona says.
"Please tell us when you don't like something. You are confident and straightforward with everything. Please make sure it applies to your health as well," Gian says.
"I will make sure of it," Fiona says firmly, "Can I at least meet Lewis?"
"Of course," Clover says, "Gian, can you show the Godmother to the incubator?"
"Definitely my love."
He was a very tiny baby; he was set to stay in the hospital for a month before they could take him home since he was a month early.
With free time on her hands, Fiona was able to book a few sessions with a trauma specialist.
She had to learn more about her trauma response; 'hyper-independence' is what the specialist said, and she was learning more to open up. She also signed Heath up, as she believed he needed to learn to communicate his feelings better.
In just a few weeks, her relationship with Heath had been slowly returning to its usual state, and she enjoyed how they communicated better.
"Lewis is coming home next week," she tells Heath.
"Really? Are you planning something for him?" he asked.
"Yes, he is my first godson, I should plan a big welcome home party," she says enthusiastically, "and don't worry, I will take care of myself."
"I know," Heath says, "can I help, even though I am not his godfather, he is still your godson and that means my responsibility as well."
"Don't be salty, Gian is closer with Lucas, that is why Lucas is the godfather," Fiona tells Heath, who was busy sulking.
"Blah-blah-blah-blah…..." he joked, "we should make a baby of our own and not make Gian a godfather and see how he likes it."
Fiona was mute for a few seconds, 'a baby of their own, isn't that too soon to think about that?' She thought to herself.
"What? You don't want a child?" Heath asks, "By the way, you always jump to shower with me, not using protection, it always seems you are ready to have babies," he teases.
"Hey… I...." She tries to defend herself, but she kind of has a point, given that she has just gotten out of a mind-blowing shower-sex right now.
She has been a bit reckless recently, but who would blame her? Heath had been walking around parading his sexy body around for her to pounce on it; matter of fact, it was all Heath's fault.
"Relax, I am not impregnating you until you are ready, okay?" he says before winking at her. She rolls her eyes at him.
"Can you stop thinking about s*x for once? You have meetings piling up for you," she says, throwing his ironed white shirt.
"Hmmmmm, already taking over the wifely duties of ironing your husband's shirt, huh?" he says, this time with no hint of humor.
"That... Maria was busy. I thought I could help," she said before pouting, "Can you stop with these mad fantasies of yours?"
"But…. It is not a fantasy," Heath says, extending his hand, he grabs Fiona's hips before pulling her closer.
"I am going to marry you. A matter of fact, I think I should do it right now before someone steals you," he says.
"You are crazy."
"About you, of course," he says, "I even ran away from the psych ward; they think my madness for you is too much for one man."
"They are not wrong," she teases.
"Well, they are not taking me away from you alive; they will have to kill me before separating us two," he says.
"Yet you are going to your office and leaving me behind," she says.
"Want to come with me?" he asked happily, "Hmmmmm, I would love to show you off, and I wouldn't have to buy lunch since my favorite meal will be just right there."
"I am not f*cking you in the office, Heath," Fiona shouts.
"Dirty mind, that is not what I meant. I mean, I wouldn't be hungry because you would satisfy me by just surviving," Heath says, "but your idea doesn't seem too bad, your naked body would look so good on my desk, I would be fed for months."
Fiona laughs at his absurd joke before feeling his lips wet her lips in a passionate kiss, "Are you coming to the office with me?"
"No," Fiona says, struggling to catch her breath, "I am meeting Selby to talk about Lewis's welcome party."
Heath pouts at her before she kisses him, "Come on, I will visit some other time and I will feed you very well," she says, making Heath widen his eyes in shock.
"You promise?"
"I promise," she says, "Now come on, you will be late."
Fiona pushes Heath out of the house, directing him to his car, "Don't forget to take Mpho with you when you meet Selby."
"I won't," she says before kissing him goodbye.
He quickly hops back inside the house to get ready to meet Selby. Lewis's welcome party needs to be a blast. But as she was ready to leave, she was greeted by Lucas at the door.
"Hey…. Um… can you spare a minute of your time?" Lucas nervously says. Fiona is anxious about what he brings; he looks too distraught to be brought good news.
"Okay, come in," Fiona says nervously, "I don't have much time, so make it quick."
