On Earth, although there was a good chunk of moral outrage one way or another about how the treatment of the animals, and the conditions should be changed, in general the practice of farming and eating meat was considered a normal and necessary thing. It was required to sustain populations across the world, and a general evolutionary trait that humans had cultivated across the ages.
Although there would certainly be those who objected, as a whole it was 'moral' because humans were the spirit of the world, or the most intelligent creature, and the sustenance in this method was relatively speaking sustainable, and controlled.
