Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Tina gave her a dirty look in return and thought you don't even know what is going on, and at this point, I don't feel like I need to justify anything to you.

Tina shocked herself she had never felt that way before and she knew that it had everything to do with the fact that they had not told her the truth until now.

Diana rolled her eyes when she saw her and just shook her head thinking that she wished that she would finish growing up.

The nurse did her best to not look upset or sad but a little still was showing through and said, "You need to hurry." Trying not to say anything more than she had to.

Tina took a closer look at him before she turned and started moving away at a faster speed. She knew that it had to be important for her to be acting this way. Tina tried asking questions as they move down the halls and all she got out of the nurse was that she needed to talk to the doctor about any of that. Tina knew that it was serious, and she knew right then that the nurse was not going to tell her anything.

The ride down the elevator was silent and the nurse would not look her in the face. She knew what was going on, but it was not her place to say anything and there was no way that she would have wanted to give her this kind of news.

By now everyone in the hospital knew who Tina was and they felt bad but there was nothing that they could do to help her. As the two of them left the elevator Tina noticed that everyone was looking away from her. At first, she didn't think anything about it but the more they looked away the more she noticed.

She was glad when they finally made it back to the emergency room because everyone was too busy to even notice her. She was glad till they got to the door that she knew that Ken had to be behind.

The sadness that her dad had eased now came flooding back as she looked around and saw that even the nurse disappeared once she had opened the door for her. Tina looked in and saw that there were two nurses that were still cleaning everything including wiping down Ken's face, chest, and hands. The doctor was standing there just waiting for her to arrive.

He said, "I am so sorry. We did everything that we could, but he just slipped away moments ago we tried to get you here, but he never awoke from the accident."

It all was too much for her and she collapsed on the floor.

Tina awoke in a dark room and as she looked around, she could tell that they had put her in a hospital room, and she had been sleeping in a bed and by the feeling of it, she had been out for a long time. The sadness swooped in and was so intense that it was hard for her to even breathe and all she could do was cry.

She was quickly getting over the darkness of the room but then started to wonder just how long she had been in there, and what was going on with her dad.

She hopped out of bed with a start at the thought of her dad. She moved a little too fast and wound up a little dizzy, but it didn't take long for her to regain her footing and get moving.

Tina left the room and there was no one in sight. She could tell that she was still in the hospital but the last thing that she knew was she was in the emergency room, and she didn't think that was where she was now.

She walked down the hall looking for someone or to find her way back to the elevator so that she could get back to her dad's room. All the doors were closed, and it was not like she wanted to start opening the doors to look inside.

Tina wandered down the hall and as she passed a door it opened and a nurse stepped out and said, "There you are. Are you okay now? You took a nasty fall so the Doctor had you brought up here."

Tina nodded just to make the nurse happy so that she could ask her how to get to her dad. Tina asked, "Can you tell me how to get to the elevator to get to my dad's room?"

The nurse said, "Okay sweetie you have to go back the other way, and when you reach a hall that goes to the right follow it and it will lead you to the elevator that you need to use."

Tina looked back down the hall and thought that of course, she had gone the wrong way. The Nurse asked, "Do you need me to show you the way?"

Tina shook her head and said, "No I think I have it." As she started walking back down the hall.

Tina passed the room that she came out of, and it was not far till she hit the hall that the nurse was talking about. As soon as she turned down the hall, she was able to see the elevator. If she had only looked up there was a sign that listed where the elevator was. Tina felt a little stupid not noticing it before. But she thought with everything that she was going through that it was no wonder that she had missed it.

Tina was not even giving herself time to process everything now she knew that she needed to get back to her dad. She had pushed the button, but it seemed like the elevators just were not moving or if they were they seemed to be going in the wrong direction and she was never so happy to see one once the door to it finally opened.

She stepped inside and pushed the button for the top floor, and nothing happened except the light on the button came on so she could tell that she had pushed it but the doors on the elevator were still open it was like it was waiting on a bunch of people that were not there. So, she pushed the close button but still, nothing happened then she thought no wonder that they are so slow the doors never seem to close. She wound up pushing the button 3 more times waiting for it to start doing anything.

Tina thought back to when she was in the elevator with the nurse when the doors didn't seem to take that long but at the time, they were in the back elevator that they had for the nurses and transportation, not the public elevators that she was in now.

There was definitely one thing that was the same, they all played the same music that seemed to just drone on and on as you waited there trapped in a little box as it moved you. Tina thought that this had to be the slowest elevator that she had ever been in - in her life, but at least it did not stop on every floor to let people in and out of it and she did have the thing to herself. So, she was not crammed into a tight space with a bunch of guys that were either trying to rub up against her or look down her top every time she was not watching them or worse yet were the ones that would hold their phones down and try to take a picture up under her skirt. Then when you bust them, they try and act all innocent like they were not doing anything.

Tina could not believe that this was taking this long just to go up a few floors. If she had thought, it was going to take this kind of time she would have taken the stairs. She finally made it to the floor and then started tapping her foot and she waited for the door to open. As soon as the doors opened enough for her to get through, she started moving.

No one would face her as she made her way through the halls. She was glad that they were not. She needed the time to think about everything and the sadness that she was feeling was more than she could even try to express to anyone. She knew that she needed to talk to her dad about her mom and try and find out what exactly happened to her and why they didn't tell her that her mom had passed and was replaced by her sister.

When Tina came down the hall Diana was standing outside the door crying harder than ever, she looked at Tina with daggers in her stare it was how dear you leave your father to die without you being there in order for you to go see your boyfriend. That they didn't like to begin with.

Tina saw that everyone was just leaving the room. Now it hit her she had no one left that she could turn to her friends were all going off to college doing things with their boyfriends and they had already set up the plans as she had with Ken.

She looked over at the woman that she had thought of as a mom and could not stand to be around her any longer. She was feeling betrayed by her, and her dad, and the pain of the loss was too much she didn't know how she was going to get through it all. The one that was going to help her deal with the loss of her dad was Ken, but now she was feeling like she had no one. She had found herself hating the woman that she had loved and thought of as a mom.

Especially now that she was giving her such dirty looks without finding out what had happened or considering everything that she was going through there was no place in her heart for any kind of forgiveness in her. Tina still wanted to know more details of what happened and why, but she couldn't face her now to even try and find out why.

Tina waited there till they had left and were allowing her inside and she saw the man that she had always admired and loved more than anyone else. Now he seemed not even to be the same person. The sickness had withered him and there was something more that was missing the part of him that made him her loved father was now gone it was just a withered shell that was left behind, but that didn't make anything hurt any less.

Now she had to decide what she was going to do now there was just nothing left for her to stay for.
