Gao Zhe was struck and turned his head away. He paused, pressed his thumb against the corner of his mouth, and then turned to look at Mr. Lu.
Lu Zhenzhen came out from behind Gao Zhe, pushed him back, and asked Mr. Lu with a stiff neck, "Why did you hit him? He's my man, and I haven't had the heart to touch him a single time. Why are you hitting him?"
Gao Zhe suddenly lifted his head.
He stared unblinkingly at Lu Zhenzhen. From his angle, he could only see her ear and half of her profile.
But it was enough.
Mr. Lu clutched his chest, took a breath, and said, "You're still defending him? Didn't you hear what he just said?"
"I heard, so what? He's defended me for half his life; it's a natural reaction, isn't it?"
