The border wall had been strengthened and raised higher, with thousands of warriors and mages hired to guard the border.Despite the reinforcement of the border wall and the hiring of thousands of warriors and mages to safeguard the borders, the deaths of village leaders persisted, causing widespread fear among the people. As a result, groups of warriors and mages were dispatched to investigate every village, but no clues were uncovered. The only information they had was that the killer was specifically targeting high-ranking leaders. However, despite ongoing investigations, no useful information regarding the killer was obtained.
Despite the advanced security measures, the deaths of high-ranking officials continued unabated, leading to increasing fear among the populace. This eventually caused many of the remaining royal and village leaders to abandon their posts and flee. In response, King Arlott replaced them with a new set of commanders who were tasked with ensuring the safety of the country. After the transition, the number of killings began to decrease, and the situation was brought under control.
King Arlott sentenced seven members of the Royal family to life in prison or death penalty, citing their involvement in a murder case. The punishment they received was severe and included torture and suffering. Among the seven individuals were two girls, two boys, including the Crown Prince, and three men. The torture they endured each day was brutal, leading four of them to commit suicide. The remaining three had no choice but to endure the suffering and cry. One of the boy was physically weak but mentally sharp enough to devise a plan to help his sisters escape prison and avoid the same fate.
For a while, the prince had been observing the guard who watched over them at night and had noticed a weak spot in the corner wall of the washroom where there was a tunnel. After dinner, he hid a spoon, which he later used to create a makeshift key to escape from the prison. That night, when the guard fell asleep, the prince attempted several times before successfully unlocking the gate and freeing himself and his sisters. However, upon their escape, they were met with a horrific sight of thousands of prisoners with decaying bodies. Frightened, the sisters screamed and woke the guard, so the prince took them to the washroom, spread soap around the door, and hid inside. When the guard opened the door, he slipped and fell, hitting the weak wall and creating an opening. They ran out of the prison, the Royal guards chased after them, and the commander ordered their execution, resulting in a hail of thousands of arrows. The three of them were almost successful in escaping the palace, but two arrows struck the prince and one of his sister, causing them to collapse. The prince urged his surviving sister, Ellie, to run and find the person who had surpassed the god level as he was only the one who can save her. Both siblings shouted this before dying in front of Ellie's eyes, causing her to scream, cry, and flee. She was close to escaping the palace when head commander threw a spear at her, piercing her belly which geared up her power and she vanished all of a sudden, shocking everyone present. Arlott commanded his Royal army to search for her. But she was nowhere to be found.
Upon waking up, Ellie found herself in a house with a mysterious masked man attending to her wounds. Startled and frightened, she screamed, which in turn made the man yell even louder. "Why are you screaming?" he asked, to which she replied with a barrage of questions. "Who are you? Where am I? What is this place?" The masked man tried to calm her down, telling her not to move as it could reopen her wounds. He informed her that she was in his home and had been treated by his friend.
Initially cautious, Ellie eventually began to trust the man as he took great care in nursing her back to health. He recounted discovering her by the river's edge with a spear protruding from her stomach and inquired, "Did you sustain this wound in combat? Are you a fighter?"
She responded by revealing that hunger had compelled her to steal money from a merchant and flee, but she was pursued by the merchant's guard who hurled a spear at her and caused her to plunge into the river.
He even asked for her name and where she was from, but she kept that information to herself, fearing that it could put him and herself in danger or make him afraid of her. Instead, she gave a false name, Eliza, and claimed to have no home or anyone to turn to. The masked man, who introduced himself as Max, continued to care for her, and their bond grew stronger.
