It was almost similar to glass that was used as a mirror on one side, causing those who looked at it to only see their reflection, but on the other side of it, anyone who looked at it would see what was on the other side.
The sound only seemed to be able to come one way, and that way into the garage from outside, while anything going out would not make it beyond the walls.
