In the dimly lit room, the faint glow of the television covered the expression of the little girl immersed in it, the sound of the animation drowning out her shivers from the cold and the growls of hunger from her stomach.
"I'm going to use magic to turn your rags into a princess's gown for the prince's ball, Cinderella... You will have splendid clothes, exquisite hair, an expensive carriage, and loyal servants..."
"Oh my, magic is truly amazing."
"But there's a condition, the magic will expire by midnight, you must return before then."
"I promise to do as told."
The skinny little girl in front of the TV stared blankly at the screen where Cinderella had become so beautiful, her eyes involuntarily brightened.
Magic...
So amazing...
How wonderful it would be if I could use magic too?
I wouldn't need such splendid clothes and servants, nor a prince, I just wish my stomach wouldn't be hungry, in pain, or making noise.
