Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

The night was quiet, the city lights casting a soft glow over the streets as Logan and Elsa walked side by side. They had been out for a late-night drive, just enjoying each other's company, when the incident happened.

A speeding car came out of nowhere, tires screeching as it lost control, heading straight for Elsa.

Before she could react, before she could even process the danger, Logan moved.

But he didn't move physically.

The car suddenly stopped—halted in midair as if it had slammed into an invisible wall. It hovered for a split second before being flung sideways, crashing into an empty alley.

Elsa blinked, her heart pounding. She turned to Logan, who was already looking at her, his expression unreadable.

"Did you just—?"

Logan sighed, rubbing his temple. "Yeah."

Elsa narrowed her eyes. "That wasn't your forcefield, was it?"

A pause. Then Logan shook his head. "Nope."

Realization dawned on her, and she folded her arms. "So, are you gonna explain, or do I have to start guessing?"

Logan sighed again, knowing there was no avoiding this conversation now. "I've had telekinesis since forever. Just never revealed it."

Elsa scoffed. "So you've been holding out on me this whole time?"

Logan smirked slightly. "Not just you. No one knows. Not even William or Matthew."

Elsa raised a brow. "Then who does?"

"My dad." Logan's expression darkened for a brief moment before he continued. "And I'd like to keep it that way."

Elsa studied him, her sharp gaze searching for something in his eyes. "Why?"

Logan exhaled. "Because having a hidden card is better than having none."

She tilted her head, processing his words. Then, a smirk slowly crept onto her lips. "You sneaky bastard."

Logan chuckled. "You love it."

Elsa rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her amusement. "I should be mad that you didn't tell me, but honestly? I kinda respect it."

Logan nodded. "Good. Because I need you to keep it to yourself."

Elsa sighed dramatically. "Fine, fine. Your secret's safe with me. But you owe me for this."

Logan smirked. "Oh yeah? What do you want?"

Elsa leaned in, her voice teasing. "I'll let you know later."

Logan shook his head with a chuckle, but deep down, he was relieved. He had known this moment would come eventually, but at least with Elsa, he didn't have to worry. She had his back, just like always

Elsa let the revelation settle in as they walked back to Logan's car. The city buzzed around them, but her mind was still replaying what had just happened.

"So, how long have you been hiding this?" she asked, glancing at him.

Logan exhaled through his nose. "Since I was a kid. My telekinesis developed alongside my force field, but I made sure people only saw the latter."

Elsa shook her head, still processing it. "And you've been using it this whole time? Just hiding it under your force field so no one would notice?"

Logan gave her a half-smile. "Bingo."

Elsa scoffed, nudging his arm. "You really don't trust anyone, do you?"

Logan's smirk faded slightly, and he looked ahead. "It's not about trust, Elsa. It's about survival. The more people know about my abilities, the more they can prepare against them. In our world, an ace up your sleeve can be the difference between life and death."

Elsa watched him carefully, then sighed. "Yeah, I get it. I just... I don't know, it's weird knowing there was something else you were holding back."

Logan glanced at her. "Does it change anything?"

Elsa smirked. "Nah. You're still the same pain in the ass I know and love."

Logan chuckled. "Glad to hear it."

They reached his car, and as Logan unlocked it, Elsa leaned against the passenger door, crossing her arms.

"So, what else are you hiding?" she asked playfully.

Logan smirked. "If I told you, then I wouldn't have any secrets left."

Elsa rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Just don't let this be the last time you trust me with something big, alright?"

Logan met her gaze and nodded. "I won't."

With that, they got into the car, and Logan drove off into the night. Elsa stared out the window, smirking to herself.

She had a feeling Logan still had more secrets, but for now, she'd let him keep them.

As Logan drove through the dimly lit streets, Elsa tapped her fingers against her thigh, still deep in thought about his telekinesis. The city lights reflected off the windshield, flickering over Logan's sharp features as he focused on the road.

"So," Elsa started, breaking the silence. "You said your dad knew. Did he train you to use it?"

Logan gave a small nod, keeping his eyes on the road. "Yeah. He taught me how to control it, how to mask it, and most importantly, when to use it. It's not something I throw around unless I have to."

Elsa tilted her head. "Why didn't you ever tell the team? I mean, Matthew, William... they'd have your back no matter what."

Logan sighed. "It's not about them not having my back, Elsa. It's about strategy. The less people know, the less predictable I am. Right now, people think I just have my force field and my combat skills. If they prepare for that, they won't see the telekinesis coming."

Elsa nodded slowly. "That makes sense… in a paranoid, overthinking, Logan kind of way."

Logan smirked but said nothing.

After a few moments, Elsa smirked to herself. "So, what else can you do with it? Just lift stuff, or are we talking full-on 'mind crush' powers?"

Logan chuckled. "Nothing that dramatic. But I can manipulate objects, stop bullets mid-air, disarm people, reinforce my own movements… things like that."

Elsa raised an eyebrow. "Reinforce your movements?"

Logan nodded. "Yeah. If I need an extra push in a fight, I can use my telekinesis to subtly enhance my strikes. It makes my blows stronger and faster without anyone realizing why."

Elsa exhaled, impressed. "Damn. No wonder you fight like a monster. That's kind of cheating."

Logan shrugged. "It's called being efficient."

Elsa smirked and nudged his arm. "And you think I won't spill your secret?"

Logan shot her a side glance. "You won't. You love me too much."

Elsa laughed. "Cocky bastard."

They drove in comfortable silence for a while, the hum of the engine filling the air. Then Elsa spoke again, her tone more serious.

"Logan… if things ever get really bad, I mean really bad, you'll use everything you've got, right?"

Logan gripped the steering wheel a little tighter. "If it comes to that, yeah. I won't hold back."

Elsa nodded, satisfied with that answer. "Good."

They soon pulled up to their base, and as Logan parked, Elsa leaned over and kissed him softly on the cheek.

"Thanks for trusting me with this."

Logan smirked. "You earned it."

As they stepped out of the car, Elsa stretched her arms. "Well, you better get some rest, 'Mr. Secret Powers.' If you go and break more ribs, I'm not going to be your nurse again."

Logan chuckled. "Noted."

They walked inside, and as Logan headed to his room, Elsa watched him for a moment, shaking her head with a smile.

She had no doubt Logan still had more secrets.

But at least now, she was one of the few who knew this one.

As Logan and Elsa stepped into the base, the atmosphere was surprisingly lively. Matthew was tinkering with one of his latest gadgets on the coffee table, while William sat on the couch, casually flipping a combat knife between his fingers. Jessica was sitting next to Matthew, scrolling through something on her tablet.

The moment they walked in, Matthew looked up with a smirk. "Look who finally decided to come home. Let me guess—you two were out making out in some alley again?"

Elsa rolled her eyes. "You wish, nerd."

William chuckled, setting the knife down. "Logan, you good? You look like you just had a long-ass conversation about existential crisis or something."

Logan smirked, shaking his head. "Something like that." He stretched, his ribs still aching slightly from the race injuries.

Jessica glanced up from her tablet. "By the way, you got a message." She tossed her tablet onto the table, and Logan picked it up, scanning the screen.

It was from Victor Cortez.

"Hope you're healing up well. I'll be in touch soon for another meeting. There are people who want to see more of 'Grey' in action."

Logan sighed and set the tablet down. "Looks like Jessica's dad still has his eye on me."

William smirked. "You did turn into a living legend after that stunt at the race. Not surprised he wants to keep you in the loop."

Matthew stretched his arms behind his head. "Speaking of which, when's your next grand performance, 'Grey'? Maybe another race? A gladiator pit? Ooh, what about an underground fight club?"

Logan rolled his eyes. "Not happening."

Jessica raised an eyebrow. "What if I sign you up again without telling you?"

Logan shot her a dry look. "Then I'll be forced to start charging you for every dumb idea you drag me into."

Matthew laughed. "Please, like you'd ever say no to us."

Elsa smirked and nudged Logan. "Yeah, face it. You're stuck with us."

Logan exhaled, shaking his head. "Yeah, yeah. Just try not to get me blown up again next time."

William leaned back. "No promises."

The room filled with laughter as the team settled back in, the weight of the recent events slowly fading—at least for now.
