"I like you."
Those words rang in Kyoyota Arianagi's ears for a moment. But as though to stop him from thinking, his head hurt really bad, the wound was still bleeding. He couldn't think clearly at all.
Yuuki, seeing the still bleeding Kyo, got off of him, and grabbed a wipe and a bandaid. She wiped the blood off and placed a bandaid on his wound. Her face was red, flushed with embarrassment and confusion of the situation.
It was a quiet moment between the two.
"Forget what I just said, it was a -"
"I like you too."
Yuuki's face became as red as a cherry. "Y-you are p-probably not thinning straight given the situation … uhum," she cleared her throat before continuing, "there is no need to lie for my sake."
"I like you, Yuuki, more than as a friend." Kyo was also flushed, his heart and head racing.
"I am just an ordinary girl. I am not that pretty, I am not great in school, I like to read weirdly titled books, and I don't smile that often outside of being the president." Yuuki went on and on about how she was just a regular person.
"Firstly, you are very p-pretty… secondly the rest of those are just fine!"
"Why would you like someone so boring and basic? I don't get it! You are smart, athletic, willing to stick your neck out for people, you have it all and I have nothing." Yuuki looked like she was going to collapse from all the emotions swirling inside of her.
Kyo, having little to no energy to pick himself up, just shook his head while sitting on the bed. "You have hobbies and interests, a life outside of school, and you are willing to do your role as president even on days when you might collapse from exhaustion. I admire that about you."
The two went back and forth on why they liked one another, what drew them to one another, despite only knowing each other for one month.
"You have a good group of friends."
"You have loving parents."
"You are a talented musician."
"You are a good leader."
"You are a good runner."
"You are a good reader."
The conversation was going nowhere. They just wanted the other person to acknowledge their own greatness. Eventually they both ran out of things to say to one another.
"I wish I knew you better." Yuuki said after a pause trying to think of more things to say about Kyo.
"I want to get to know you more as well." Kyo said in agreement.
"It's settled then, we will hang out more."
Kyo laughed at Yuuki's declaration, "so .. can I take this to mean … we are dating now?"
Yuuki paused, a comedic pause, a frozen stiff pause, "A- ask me properly." She said in a muddled whisper.
"Can you repeat that?"
"Ask me properly!"
Like a compressed bottle of soda, she blurted out, in a loud voice, that demand.
Kyo smiled, "right, sorry. Yuuki Hanami, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes!"
The sun finally set, the room became darker, the light of the full moon and stars were the only thing peering in. This moment was how Yuuki Hanami and Kyoyota Arianagi began their official relationship.
