Layer upon layer of defenses stood directly in front of Pupitar, who had shifted from extreme-light to extreme-heavy mode, propelling itself forward with the power of compressed gas and gravity to launch an Iron Head attack!!
However, Pupitar's offensive power exceeded everyone's expectations.
The layer of Aurora Veil was instantly shattered under the Iron Head, carrying a momentum that nothing could stop it. At this point, Pupitar had the aura of crushing all in its path, and one ice wall after another instantly broke apart like a mirror under this powerful momentum and strong impact.
Crack.
The sound of shattering echoed as Extrasensory was immediately dispersed, and Ice Beam had no time to repair the walls.
Pupitar's falling speed was terrifying, like a streak of silver light tearing through the air, as if it meant to pierce the very earth itself.
Amidst the shocked cries, if Vulpix hadn't hastily changed tactics and leapt aside, it would have been struck head-on by Pupitar.
Boom!!
Even after all those layers of resistance, Pupitar still demonstrated astonishing offensive power. Its entire body drilled into the ground, the destructive power so great that Little Vulpix couldn't help but glance over in lingering fear.
"Vulpix~" Little Vulpix cried out in annoyance at the sight of the massive crater. If Terrance hadn't forbidden it from using offensive moves, it would've unleashed Sheer Cold long ago.
"What an incredible burst of power… It's a pity this is only an attack style for Pupitar stage, it doesn't have much practical use. Otherwise, it could've been the next Arcanine," Terrance said with a faint smile, clearly satisfied with Pupitar's strength.
But what he looked forward to even more was the power Pupitar would display after evolving. After all, during the Pupitar stage, Terrance's plan was to let it continue accumulating strength, to build a foundation for becoming the Sandstorm Monarch! At this stage, battle experience didn't hold much value.
After digging Pupitar out of the ground, Terrance called over Little Vulpix again, intending to test Pupitar's defensive strength.
In truth, Pupitar's defense had already been demonstrated in that previous attack. Smashing through so many layers of defenses, plunging into the ground without sustaining major damage. How could Pupitar's defense possibly be weak?
Still, to gain a clearer understanding, Terrance had Vulpix use Iron Tail.
Little Vulpix let out a soft cry, and its six snow-white tails instantly gleamed with a metallic luster, transforming into six hardened weapons. As Vulpix leapt into the air, the six tails swept out in rapid succession, each strike following the last with tremendous speed. Facing the attack, Pupitar's entire body glimmered with the same metallic luster.
The mechanisms behind the two moves weren't too different. Iron Tail, Iron Defense, even Iron Head and Steel Wing were similar in principle. Pupitar used Iron Defense to withstand the Iron Tail, and after a few sharp metallic clangs, the clash ended.
Vulpix's Iron Tail couldn't even scratch Pupitar's defense.
"Use Blizzard," Terrance commanded next. Vulpix immediately leapt back and exhaled a gale infused with ice energy. The howling wind swept across, instantly freezing Pupitar into a solid block of ice. But the next second, with a burst of power from its stored compressed gas, Pupitar shattered the ice around it. Terrance observed carefully. Despite the devastating force of that Blizzard, Pupitar's body showed not a trace of frostbite. It was certainly damaged to some degree, but its resistance to ice astonished Terrance.
"During the Larvitar stage, its defensive endurance wasn't nearly this impressive. It seems evolution has stimulated all the nutrients it had absorbed before."
"Keep it up, when you evolve into Tyranitar, you'll undergo another transformation, one far more terrifying than this."
After understanding Pupitar's current condition, Terrance told Vulpix and Pupitar to continue their battle on their own.
Without Terrance's series of restrictions, Vulpix was finally able to fully unleash its power. Since Pupitar still couldn't properly handle the massive increase in its body weight, Vulpix quickly found a weakness and defeated it.
However, this also made Pupitar realize that it needed to overcome the inconveniences brought by its new body as soon as possible in order to better devote itself to future training.
Clap, clap, clap...
Terrance clapped his hands, calling out to the two Pokémon. "Alright, let's go have lunch first."
...
...
By the afternoon, Terrance was helping Pupitar adapt to its new body while also studying Altaria's Fairy Aura, using that aura to conduct special training for his other Pokémon.
When Altaria released its Fairy Aura, any Fairy-type Pokémon within it could train at several times their usual efficiency.
With the help of the Fairy Aura, Terrance's Pokémon could easily grasp Fairy-type moves, and their rate of improvement was astonishing.
Take Kirlia for example—from learning Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam, to skillfully using them, and now mastering them completely—it had only taken a very short amount of time.
Other Trainers might spend months or even years to train their Pokémon's signature moves to such a level, but under the support of Fairy Aura, Terrance's Pokémon advanced smoothly and efficiently. At this pace, Terrance estimated that it was only a matter of time before they could perfectly command moves like Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam.
As for Altaria, it had long since mastered Fairy-type moves to perfection, even wielding Fairy energy with extraordinary finesse. This made it the undisputed mentor among these Fairy-type Pokémon. Any question regarding Fairy-type moves, Altaria could help them resolve flawlessly.
While releasing its Fairy Aura, Altaria also trained itself, simultaneously enhancing the training efficiency of the others.
Carbink was training itself using the newly mastered Gravity move; Kirlia sat cross-legged in midair, quietly meditating; and Vulpix continued constructing and refining its ice moon, using the process to strengthen its control over ice energy.
However, among these three Pokémon, Carbink's situation was somewhat special.
"Car~bink…"
Watching its companions grow stronger one after another, Carbink felt anxious. But Terrance had already prepared a shortcut for growing stronger. Aside from that, all it could do was train steadily.
At present, because Carbink was the last Pokémon Terrance had captured, it was also the weakest in his team. Moreover, Terrance suspected that due to innate talent differences, its training efficiency under the Fairy Aura was much lower than that of Kirlia or Vulpix.
"Still unable to harness the power boost from the Fairy Aura?"
This time, Carbink had overtrained again. Seeing Carbink collapse from exhaustion, Terrance hurried over to give it nutritional supplements to restore its stamina, and instructed Altaria to heal it using Fairy Aura.
That was simply the reality. Even though Fairy Aura did help Carbink train, its efficiency never came close to matching Kirlia and the others.
In order to catch up with Kirlia and Vulpix's rate of progress, Carbink was pushing itself to the limit, training to the point of exhaustion. This made Terrance both worried and helpless.
Terrance suspected that Carbink's Clear Body Ability might be the cause. Perhaps it provided some resistance to the Fairy Aura's effects. Because of that, Terrance had been researching ways to refine or retrain the Clear Body Ability, hoping to help Carbink overcome this obstacle.
But today, Terrance suddenly noticed something unusual. Within the blue gemstones embedded in Carbink's body, faint pink fairy light was beginning to flicker from time to time…
