Aaron's voice dropped to a low, dangerous calm.
"Do not harm my children, Davis."
Davis let out another laugh, but this time there was no humor in it—only cold seriousness.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't."
On the other end of a separate line, Adam, who was secretly listening, felt his heart sink. His hands trembled on the steering wheel. The confidence he had always held in Davis—his leader, his brother‑in‑law has now began slipping away.
'Davis… is this really the man my father warned me about? Was Lucy wrong about him?'
The thought stayed heavy in Adam's chest, and he wished desperately that Aaron's words wouldn't prove true.
But he didn't mute the instrument. He kept listening.
Aaron finally spoke, steady and sharp.
"Lucy is someone you shouldn't mess with. She is your wife, and you love her. If that's the case, then you will not harm her."
