The bride stood up abruptly, causing Madame Sun to miss covering her with the veil.
Madame Sun calmed herself and said to Gu Jinyu, "Miss Gu, please sit down. The groom shouldn't be here so soon, should he? The auspicious hour hasn't arrived yet."
Gu Jinyu glanced at the still dark sky, realized her indiscretion, and slowly sat back down on her chair, saying, "Chun Liu, go take a look."
"Yes, Miss." Chun Liu turned and went out.
She returned quickly, her face looking somewhat troubled, clenching her handkerchief and remaining silent.
Gu Jinyu had disarrayed her phoenix crown earlier, and Madame Sun was resetting it for her.
She glanced at Chun Liu and asked, "What happened? Speak up, don't hesitate."
The sound of gongs and drums grew increasingly lively, and Chun Liu murmured something softly, which was quickly drowned out by the noise outside.
