Karn and Rei made their way deeper into the forest following the trail that had been created by many people using the same path over time.
Rei's mind was racing with many thoughts as they walked to the bandit hideout.
'If this old man loses or runs while fighting the bandit leader I should probably tell them that he forced me to tell him where the hideout was.' Rei was worried that the old man might not be enough to save his little brother. She was increasingly feeling confident about him when he came back with blood all over his clothes after dealing with the two on the trees. But she could not help but think about the 'what if's'.
Rei had lived through enough of this dog eat dog world where nobody was there for her other than her brother. She had no idea who her family was, first thing she remembered was being in a orphanage with her little brother who she had to keep safe. If not for her brother she would have probably gone insane long time ago.
She was the first one to know that nothing in her life goes right and this might be the same situation as always.
Karn was watching her this whole time and the slight body language changes in her body the whole time while looking forward with a slight smile caressing his beard.
'This young lady.... She is probably thinking I am not going to help her or is scared I am going to lose, worried for her brother maybe?'. Karn made an assumption which had landed spot on.
As they walked they soon saw a cave which was lit up with many torches along with many people outside the cave sitting around campfires. Most of them looked rough with many scars on each of their bodies and an aura of savageness present in all of them. Some of them could be seen with a few village women who had been tied up with barely any clothes on. All of them seemed to have eyes that were dead.
It was clear they had been through a lot by the bandits. Rei had proven herself useful to the camp and the leader of the bandits otherwise her fate might have been similar to these women. Rei looked at the men with disgust.
Among the bandits two men seemed to exude a different air to them. Both of them were on different sides of the camp and the bandits around the two all looked at them with admiration.
Karn looked at most of the bandits. All of them had a banner on top of their heads which ranged from Tier 3 - Warrior to Tier 2 - Warrior. The two bandits with a different air about them both had a Tier 2 Peak - Warrior above their heads.
"The leader is in the cave, I have never seen him but everybody knows he is a Tier 1 martial warrior. Be careful." Rei whispered to the old man.
Karn nodded and asked "Where is your brother?"
Rei looked around until she pointed towards a certain location near a campfire. He had his hands tied but otherwise he looked a healthy young man with jet black hair around the age of 15. Rei looked at her brother with relief in her expression after seeing that Shin was safe.
Karn nodded and said "Okay, go around and get close to your brother. When I make a move, get your brother and go back to the village and wait there for me." Rei nodded after hearing the plan.
"Old man" asked Rei.
"I thought I told you to address me with respect. What is it?" Asked Karn with slight annoyance in his voice.
"Are you really blind?" asked Rei who had been curious all along whether the old man was really blind or not. After all this might be the last time she see's him. If he dies that would be just it. She might be a little sad but its not like life had done her any favors in the first place.
"Yes, I am blind. Is that all you wanted to ask? Go and do what I told you to do and save your brother." Said Karn while looking at Rei. Karn did not like delaying what he wanted to do. One could say that the old man was really insane, he wanted to fight everybody in the camp.
Karn had realized the joy in becoming a predator and had become like this in the war, or rather the war had unlocked this inside of him. Now again this world had began unlocking the part that had been sealed away after the war ended. Karn was insane by any normal standards of the word but was there a normal in this world that was ruled by the strong?
Once Rei was in place to rescue her brother, Karn made a move. The bandit camp had 30 people in total. 10 of them were Tier 3 - Warrior and another 10 of them were Tier 3 Peak - Warrior, 7 of them were Tier 2 - Warrior and only 2 were Tier 2 Peak - Warrior.
Using god's eye Karn looked at everyone's sight and moved within a blind spot that nobody was seeing walking casually up to the man who was a Tier 3 Peak - Warrior.
"These women are getting boring we need'a take some more from them villagers. HAHA! eh? who are yo-?" Before the bandit could finish his sentence the man's head had flown through the air.
Karn immediately used the heavenly thief technique along with the sabre he had acquired recently and went full speed to the other man beside him. Another head had flown and only blood was flying everywhere in place of the head. This man was a Tier 3.
