Nathan Fawcett said, "You know perfectly well why things have turned out this way. If you knew it would come to this, why did you do it in the first place? You feel wronged, but don't you think Mrs. Sutton feels wronged too?"
Nathan Fawcett had never liked Sean Sutton. Mrs. Sutton, on the other hand, had once cooked a meal for him, and he still remembered that kindness.
Now that Sean Sutton was mistreating her so badly, Nathan naturally sided with her and her daughter.
There was no way he would help Sean Sutton.
Sean Sutton said, "Then help me put in a good word with Anne. Ask her what she wants me to do! I know I was wrong. I'll do anything she asks, I just hope I can save the company."
Nathan Fawcett said, "I can't help you."
With that, he turned and left.
Sean Sutton tried to follow him, but the butler had someone stop him.
Sean Sutton watched Nathan Fawcett's retreating back, realizing he was completely powerless against him.
