Chapter 74 - ch. 74 Expanding the company

Getting the go-ahead from the secretary, Nick quickly rolled a cart into a large meeting room. There sat 9 out of the 11 executives of Amazon, this average company that would soon explode in popularity and grow greatly.

Right now, the company had just started expanding its online presence. They started off by selling just books, but now they were beginning to sell a large variety of things online.

"Hello, people of Amazon, and thank you for your time. I'm Nicholas Valentines, CEO and owner of Valentine Industries. I'll be quick. As of now, your company has expanded its catalog of items. You're having to pay UPS $8-$20 for shipping your items... What I propose will cut the cost down by a third, and your shipping speed will increase twofold!"

The executives murmured amongst themselves while Nick began his demonstration. Lifting the fabric off the cart revealed a large 5ft by 5ft drone, a metal box, and multiple weights.

"These are state-of-the-art transportation drones. These things can carry any object that fits within this box to any location within 100 miles from the drone's charging station!" Taking out his phone, Nick opened his app and activated the drone.

The fans on the machine began to whirl silently before lifting off. The metal box underneath lifted up as the executives' eyebrows raised.

"You simply need to input the address into the drone, place the boxed objects into the drone's basket. The drone reads the address on the boxes, making sure it's the same as the address inputted, and it flies off to its destination. This model specifically can lift up 150lb comfortably."

Nick emphasized his point by loading up multiple twenty-pound weights into the box, causing its blades to whirl faster and begin creating a slight noise from the fans, but not lowering.

"As for our other models, please look outside the windows." The executives looked at each other before looking out the window where they saw nearly a hundred drones all flying in perfect formation.

They ranged from small 2ft by 2ft drones all the way to massive 10ft by 10ft drones. These massive drones implemented anti-gravity technology to allow their massive weight to gain flight and carry over 1000lb.

"Our largest models can even transport fridges and washing machines with ease, allowing you to expand your company's catalog to literally anything but vehicles." The executives' eyes widened in shock as they kept looking back and forth at Nick and the massive drones outside.

"All of this to say that we, Valentine Industries, want to secure Amazon's transportation contracts for North America and possibly Europe. Valentine Industries, of course, has all of the paperwork and certificates needed for drone transportation." With a tap of his phone, all of the drones began to land.

There was a moment of silence as the executives looked at each other back and forth before one spoke up.

"Nicholas, may you please step out before we discuss what you've presented to us."

"Of course." Leaving his cart in the room, Nick walked out, his heart beating.

'Amazon is the perfect company for my drone business, they'll quickly grow larger, and if I secure my company to them, then I'll also grow large quickly. I must secure them at all costs!' What Nick needed right now wasn't just money, it was also a reputation.

He needed his company to be a household name so that as soon as he revealed his next invention, people would immediately buy them before a knockoff company could create cheaper copies.

After a few minutes of deliberating, the door opened, and he was welcomed back in. The one who spoke to him earlier spoke again.

"I'm sorry, Nicholas, but we'll have to refuse. What you said and displayed has greatly interested us, but there are too many variables that could go wrong and negative affect js." Nick felt his heart sink, but he didn't give up.

"I completely understand, but perhaps a trial run could change your mind. How about for one month in New York, my drone service will integrate with your already established transportation services, completely free of charge. You can see the results and for yourself, and we can sign whatever contract that puts all the liability onto my company." The one speaking was about to refuse again, but a woman's hand stopped him.

"Can you please leave once again while we discuss this?" Agreeing with her words, Nick left the room.

The offer Nick gave was too tempting to immediately refuse; he was giving away his service for one month for free. This meant they didn't even have to risk a penny but could experience a lower-grade version of what Nick offered.

He was once again called into the meeting room, his heart pounding greatly.

"It looks like we'll take your company up on its offer. We'll test your company's service for one month, and if its results are satisfactory, we'll offer you a contract." With a smile on his face, Nick immediately shook his hand and sat down to iron out the details.

Nick left the building and immediately called up Micro; the man was just as excited about the possibilities as Nick.

'With the combined intelligence of me, Micro, and Peter put together on this project, I have no doubt we'll succeed, but the problem is what happens after I sign the full contract with Amazon.'

The reason Nick's services were cheaper than UPS was because of Nick's Uru generators that basically creates free electricity.

Nick only had 57 pieces of Uru, if he were to cover all of North America then he'd need at least one Uru generator between each state in America plus generators in Canada provinces.

Then he could charge massive batteries that could be shipped back and forth to drone warehouses to charge them for free, of course he'd have to use insulated Shipping trucks to move the massive batteries as he wouldnt chance it them going off.

'Driving battery's back and forth is incredibly inefficient compared to electricity, the only reason it works is because the energy is free and the Uru generator charge batteries quickly.' Nick needed an additional power source if he wanted to stop this inefficient practice of driving batteries.

Realizing that he actually still had a lot of things to do, Nick began strategizing optimum placement of generators and infrastructure needed. He did everything except buy buildings or hiring construction crews, he couldn't afford to waste million if Amazon doesnt hire his company.

'I have enough Uru to cover North America, expanding into Europe would be impossible with what i have. I'll eithet need a secondary power source or... I could break into SHIELD and steal the rest of the Uru!

Nick knew S.H.I.E.L.D. would blow the Uru on energy guns, something nearly useless in the grand scheme due to its limited quantity and effectiveness.

Of course, stealing from S.H.I.E.L.D. is the last thing Nick wants. If they found out, he'd essentially be the enemy of the world. It'd only be a last resort if he couldn't find that second power source.

The reason Nick wanted world wide coverage of drones wasn't because he was invested in the transport trade; it was because of what it meant to have his drones everywhere! Nick's drones would be the eyes in the sky, monitoring everything going on around the world.

Not to mention Nick's drone were carefully created so that they could quickly attach themselves onto specially crafted weapons within thirty seconds!

When his drone transportation business flourishes and he has millions of drones flying through the sky, he planned on being able to weaponize at a moment's notice to fight off whatever invading force comes after the planet!
