Chapter 828 - Gilgamesh's arrogance and Artoria's disappointment

A while ago, just before Eiji knocked on Caster's door.

In a district filled with old warehouses.

One of the most famous scenes in the original work was happening without Saber's presence.

*Clang! Clang! Clang!*

The sound of metal crashing was heard accompanied by sparks in the air.

Two figures were moving at such a high speed that they seemed to be blurring.

Diarmuid, Lancer was fighting with a Servant of the Berserker class who was famous for his incredible physical strength, immense endurance and resistance.

Just like him, the other party was also a knight but due to the effect of the Mad Enhancement skill, he sacrificed most of his sanity or common sense in exchange for the insane power of the Berserker class.

Diarmuid was overwhelmed.

*Boom!*

The ground beneath his feet shattered into pieces as he blocked the Berserker's sword strike with both spears.

"Gugh! Your strength is crazy. Still, I wonder what makes a knight like you a Servant of that class?"

Diarmuid jumped back, he wiped the blood on the corner of his lips and asked a man whose entire body was covered in black knight's armor and emitted a black aura.

Through the slits in his helmet, his eyes could be seen emitting a terrifying red light, depicting his uncontrollable madness and hatred.

"Hrgh...!" Berserker spoke incoherently, he growled like a beast.

But if he was sane and could answer.

Before becoming a Heroic Spirit on the Throne of Heroes, he was the most loyal Knight of the Round Table, but was in an illicit relationship with Queen Guinevere, the wife of King Arthur (Artoria).

The affair was eventually exposed and led to a civil war that destroyed the unity of the Knights of the Round Table and caused the downfall of Camelot.

He blamed himself heavily for the destruction.

Artoria's "inhuman" attitude: an idealistic and rational king didn't help either. When his affair was revealed, Artoria showed no deep anger or resentment, as she understood Guinevere married her only for political purposes.

That indifference made Berserker who he is today, he felt that Artoria didn't really care, which further eroded his sanity.

He felt looked down upon.

As a Berserker, he still remembered the pain of seeing Artoria continue to act as a cold king, while he was ravaged by guilt.

His hatred was not because he hated Artoria personally, but because of the madness that twisted his guilt into hatred directed at his king.

"You can't even speak human language? That's really sad. At least tell me your name so we can duel as knights."

Diarmuid smiled wryly.

He did not know the black knight in front of him was the famous treasonous knight of the Round Table.

His identity was Lancelot.

If Eiji was here, he would be confused because who was the master? Zouken was dead and Sakura had been freed from the Matou family.

There was no reason for that man, Kariya Matou who was a distant descendant of Zouken who was considered his son to participate in the Holy Grail War.

His older brother, Byakuya Matou was even more improbable as he did not have a magical circuit strong enough to summon a Servant.

"Grrrr!" Lancelot ran like crazy and with his sword, he made brutal slashes.

Lancer dodged each of his attacks with thin gaps while occasionally counterattacking.

In an old abandoned factory.

Kayneth who saw the situation of his servant was annoyed and said, "Stop playing around Lancer, take it seriously and kill the Berserker before the other servants arrive!"

Hearing his master's voice in his head, Diarmuid widened the distance from Berserker while narrowing his eyes.

He changed his stance, positioning his two spears in a different way than before.

"Sorry, my master wants me to end this fight soon. So Berserker, although it was quite fun, I'm going to kill you."

"Grrraaah!"

Lancer and Berserker ran with killing intent in their eyes.

The former was ready to unleash the true ability of his Noble Phantasm, one of the red-colored spears in his hand.

Unlike the yellow colored spear in his other hand, Gae Buidhe (Yellow Rose of Death had the ability to cause wounds that could not be healed by magic.

Gae Dearg (Red Rose of Removal) has the ability to pierce through magic protection and cancel magic when it hits the target. In the original work, it allowed her to ignore magical defenses, such as Saber's magical armor.

However, before Lancer could stab Berserker in the heart while dodging Berserker's sword that was about to cut off his head.

The two sensed danger from another direction and sure enough, a spear enveloped in golden magical energy flew towards them.

*Boom!*

The explosion created a small crater. Lancer and Berserker jumped in opposite directions until their figures emerged from the puff of smoke.

They turned their heads in a certain direction only to see a figure gleaming with gold, it was Archer. Or rather Gilgamesh standing on a street lamppost that was clearly not there before.

Did he take that lamppost from somewhere else and store it at the Gate of Babylon for this moment?

In his previous life, Eiji was quite curious about that.

"Hoh? How dare two mongrels dodge this King's attack."

"So we shouldn't dodge the attack to make you happy? You must be joking, Archer."

Diarmuid recognized what class Gilgamesh was just from the way he used his weapons.

While continuing to fold his arms arrogantly, Gilgamesh glanced at Lancer with a disdainful look.

"A commoner should not reply to the words of a King. Calling me by my class designation is also an insulting act."

Diarmuid was stunned for a moment, "Then, what should I call you, the Golden King?"

Gilgamesh raised his eyebrows, several Noble Phantasms flew from the Gate of Babylon and shot at the Berserker who was running like a mad dog at him.

Several explosions were heard.

Berserker was thrown into a building.

"Mongrel, know your place! You are not allowed to interrupt this King's words and listen carefully."

Gilgamesh was angry with Berserker's actions, but also upset with Lancer. But what surprised everyone including his master was...

"I am the King of Heroes, the oldest and most powerful King in the history of mankind, Gilgamesh."

He revealed his true identity!

At the Tohsaka family home.

Tokiomi rubbed his forehead and said, "Your Majesty, why did you reveal your identity?"

It cost their team dearly.

Now not only Lancer and his master, the other masters and servants watching the fight probably already knew who Archer's true identity was.

But what was Gilgamesh's answer?

"Tokiomi, stop being a coward! How could I, Gilgamesh, be afraid to reveal my glorious identity? Whoever hears it, they should feel honored."

He was disgusted by Tokiomi's strategy. Originally, he had even told him to wait for one of the mongrels on the battlefield to die before he killed another.

Such an act insulted his dignity as King.

So, Gilgamesh refused and here he is now, turning the fight into a three-way battle.

Even revealing his identity with pride.

Tokiomi swallowed his frustration and acted humbly, "I was wrong, Your Majesty. I'm just worried that the other servants who know your identity will take advantage of your weakness."

"Weakness? Nonsense! This king has no weaknesses! Open your dog eyes, Tokiomi. I alone am more than enough to defeat a pack of mongrels."

Gilgamesh and his master's conversation was not overheard by anyone else.

However, anyone could see that the man in golden armor looked even more annoyed. And speaking of the King of Heroes' weakness, he had one.

That was...

*Cut!*

Lancer moved closer to him and cut the lamppost he was standing on with his spear.

"!?" Gilgamesh almost lost his balance before floating in the air using his magic ability.

Arrogance.

It was the King of Heroes' weakness.

He often embarrassed himself in front of his enemies. His face slightly flushed with anger, he looked at Lancer who was right under his nose and showered him with Noble Phantasm.

"Mongrel, you seek death!"

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

A series of explosions shook the district filled with old buildings. Lancer jumped backwards to dodge every Noble Phantasm that exploded when it hit the ground.

Only a very rich person like Gilgamesh would use a Noble Phantasm in such a crude way that would make its former owners cry.

Wait, Eiji did that too because he had the same power as the King of Heroes.

Back to the warehouse.

"Is this the power of the King of Heroes? He has many Noble Phantasms and is very strong. Can Lancer defeat him?"

Kayneth was worried and wondered if they should retreat?

"Fortunately I managed to persuade Sola to wait at the hotel and not come with me here."

For reasons unknown to him, his fiancée had suddenly insisted on coming with him before.

Kayneth was pleased and thought Sola was worried about him, but since he loved her, he did not want her to be in danger and leave her at the hotel whose entire building he had rented out and set up many traps.

It was their headquarters in Fuyuki city.

Away from the battlefield and to see what was happening using modern technology.

Protagonist Kiritsugu squatting with a sniper in his hand suddenly clicked his tongue, "Tsk, I can't see any of their masters. Maiya, can you see their position from your position?"

His assistant's voice rang out from the communication device in his ear, "No, I can't see them. Those masters are probably watching the battle of their servants from a greater distance. Kiritsugu, what should we do next?"

On top of a tall building, a black-haired woman in a black suit waited for her boss's orders.

Kiritsugu smoked a cigarette before saying, "Let's wait."

From what they said, his purpose for doing all this was clear.

He hoped to kill the Masters directly, without having to face their dangerous Servants.

This was his dirty and cunning tactic as a Magus Killer.

"Rrraaaaaghh!"

On the battlefield, Berserker attacked Gilgamesh again.

That made Gilgamesh who was shooting at Lancer have to shoot at him simultaneously.

"Hahahaha! Is this all you two can do? Mongrels! I'm not interested in the Holy Grail, but I'll probably get it and make it my wine glass."

"After all, none of the mongrels in this war have been able to defeat the strongest King like me."

"You're all just entertainment for this King! Hahahaha!"

Archer's arrogant laughter and condescending words echoed.

Diarmuid was annoyed, but he was helpless as he was not even able to approach him like before.

Right now, he could only dodge every Noble Phantasm that exploded around him.

Berserker's situation was not even better, he was less sane and was often hit by explosions. But because of his extremely high defense, he was able to get up time and time again and continued to roar.

"None of us can beat you? King of Heroes, you're too arrogant. What about this King?"

Another arrogant voice rang out, the night sky above the battlefield suddenly rumbled as if a storm was coming.

Gilgamesh and the other two servants stopped what they were doing and looked up at the sky.

What they saw was a golden chariot pulled by two fat oxen.

The vehicle could fly and was occupied by a Servant and his Master.

One of them, a Servant of the Rider class jumped on top of the stack of containers and cheerfully introduced himself.

"I am the King of Conquerors, Iskandar! My real name is Alexander the Great and I am the one who almost conquered the world. To take back what is mine, you are all my opponents!"

From his position, Iskandar looked down on everyone including the King of Heroes.

He had red hair, a 2 meter tall body and muscles that were no less massive than Caster's.

His cape fluttered at that moment, making his figure shine even more.

His master, Waver Velvet, a young witch from the Clock Tower fell off the horse-drawn carriage and landed on his back. He groaned and could not help saying, "Rider, are you stupid?! Why did you reveal your true identity?!"

He had more or less the same problem with Tokiomi because of his servant.

"Waver, you don't understand. A King should not be afraid to reveal his identity to others. They should be confident because their power is above many people."

"....." Waver is speechless, this isn't the first time he's heard Rider speak words of wisdom.

However, he was still not happy! In his opinion, his servant was too careless. Instead of waiting for the other servants to kill each other, he came here while bringing his master.

Did you see the other servants bring their masters?

No, they didn't dare to!

But you...

Waver wants to cry, he is worried that the other servants will target him and kill him.

"Ho ho, nice words for a King but don't equate me with you, you're basically just another mongrel."

"Unlike you, the power of a King of Heroes like me is above everyone including you."

Gilgamesh laughed and looked at Iskander with a condescending smile. To prove his words, the golden ripples in his background expanded to cover one side of the district.

The faces of the other Servants, and Waver were now illuminated by the golden light.

Waver is terrified and thinks they are all going to die!

How could they avoid an attack with such a wide range?

Kiritsugu guessed that Waver was a Master, he planned to shoot him in the head from a distance. But Gilgamesh's power stunned him.

Is this the power of a Servant?

How frightening. He didn't seem to need to expose his existence for now. Thus, Kiritsugu did not squeeze the trigger of his sniper.

"Hahahahaha! You should all be honored to die after seeing... Huh? Tokiomi, how dare you!"

Gilgamesh suddenly stopped speaking his words and scolded his master.

That was because Tokiomi used his Command Spell to make him retreat immediately.

To Gilgamesh, being forced to obey someone else's orders made him feel extremely humiliated.

His expression was ugly, anger overflowing in his red eyes before the Babylon Gate closed and his figure disappeared.

"....." Everyone.

They somehow survived death.

However, if I had to answer. Tokiomi underestimated Gilgamesh's strength, he thought he wouldn't be able to defeat all the servants by himself, although in reality Gilgamesh could do it easily.

Tokiomi felt compelled to use the Command Spell to order Gilgamesh to retreat.

Not only that, overusing the Gate of Babylon at the beginning would waste precious resources.

Tokiomi tried to conserve his resources as much as possible and win the war without using full power.

The attack that Gilgamesh would unleash earlier could also create mass destruction.

The Church would not be happy if that happened.

Still, when the other Masters thought of telling their Servants to retreat and end tonight's battle.

*!!!*

They felt the fluctuation of Caster's magical energy and saw the figure of a mountain-sized monster in the distance.

In the next second, a familiar golden pillar of light appeared but then, it disappeared and was replaced by a giant golden sword whose size left the other Servants including Gilgamesh stunned.

The mountain-sized monster disappeared after being cut down by the attack.

"Wh-What is it? Which servant has that much power?!" Waver shuddered and his question represented everyone.

For a moment, he even thought the giant golden sword could cut the world in half.

However, remembering all the servants who had been present and looking at each other. In the Holy Grail War, there were seven Servants who were called to fight. They represented the seven standard Servant classes, namely Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker.

That meant only three Servants: Assassin, Caster and Saber had anything to do with what they had just seen.

"That mountain-sized monster must have been summoned by Caster and he's dead now. The servant who killed it was Saber!"

"Saber was able to unleash such a powerful attack?!"

Tokiomi knew Assassin was on his side, so he could guess exactly what class the two Servants fighting elsewhere were from.

He was surprised and relieved to have ordered Gilgamesh to retreat though not without a price, he sacrificed one of his Command Spells and earned the hatred of his servant.

Gilgamesh looked at him very coldly without saying a word.

Tokiomi hurriedly knelt in front of him, "Your Majesty, forgive me! I had to do this for the sake of our victory!"

"..."

Gilgamesh was still silent, he sat lazily while drinking his wine. Saber's power was stronger than he thought and had caught his attention, but he was very unhappy with Tokiomi.

He had broken his bottom line and it seemed time to replace him.

His red eyes glanced at Kirei. The King of Heroes thought it was time to manipulate him further.

...

Meanwhile.

After killing Caster and his master, Eiji had not forgotten to use Time Matter to repair all the damage on the battlefield.

He had even revived the people who had been killed by his and Caster's attacks.

It was inevitable.

After all, his ultimate move when using Tenseigan— Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion had such a wide range that it was enough to split the earth in two.

However, he restrained himself of course and deactivated the move immediately after slashing Caster.

The result was thousands of kilometers of plains and oceans cut in a straight line. It had now been repaired.

Thank you Time Matter!

[You're welcome.]

Miss System, I'm not thanking you.

[But host, you got Time Matter from me.]

Oh, you're right. Thank you my wife, Miss System.

[I'm not your wife.]

While joking with his wife in his head, Eiji had moved away from their previous location and was walking with Artoria beside him.

The blonde knight was naturally surprised by the power her master had shown earlier.

"Eiji."

"What, Artoria-chan?"

He glanced at the blonde woman with heroic beauty.

Her master again called her with chan at the end of her name, Artoria refrained from complaining.

"If you're that strong, do you still need me to win the Holy Grail?"

After seeing the giant golden sword earlier, she realized that even if she was a Servant of the strongest class, Saber.

She would not be able to defeat her master.

Not only was he extremely handsome and perverted, he was also extremely powerful!

"Artoria-chan, what's wrong with being a pervert? I'm a man, it's natural for me to be a pervert." Instead of answering the question, Eiji complained.

Artoria widened her eyes, "Can you read minds?"

"How about I say yes?"

The other heroines who were watching the broadcast immediately stiffened.

Eiji could read minds?

Doesn't that mean he knows what they often think about him including his inner voice?!

"Y-You violated my privacy!" Artoria inexplicably covered her chest with her hands.

No, it has nothing to do with your small chest and is pointless. I can still read your mind.

Eiji chuckled, his smile making the Knight King who had seen many handsome men throughout her life mesmerized.

Come to think of it, ever since she was summoned by him. She was more emotional and no longer behaved like when she was trying to be the perfect King in the past.

The current her might somewhat understand Lancelot's guilt for betraying her.

But right now, Artoria was only thinking of the silver-haired man who seemed to sparkle under the moonlight.

"Just kidding, I just guessed and I didn't expect it to be true." Eiji sighed as if slightly depressed.

The women in the group chat were relieved even though some of them thought he was not joking.

Artoria smiled amusedly, before she asked why they did not use teleportation magic to return to Aoi's parents' house.

She gasped and turned her head to a certain end of the street. Under the light of a yellow lamppost, there was a figure that looked familiar but different from the past, he was wearing jet black armor and a black aura enveloped him.

Artoria still did not recognize his identity.

"Arthuuuuurrr!"

At least before Lancelot shouted her name with hatred in his voice.

"That voice... Lancelot?" Artoria was startled, guilt suddenly rising in her heart.

She had not expected one of her knights to be summoned and judging from his appearance, he seemed to be a Servant of the Berserker class.

It was her fault, she made Lancelot become like that.

It made her even more determined to get the Holy Grail so she could make up for her past mistakes.

Eiji did not pay attention to Artoria's inner drama, he glanced at the man at the end of the street curiously.

After all, shouldn't he have fought with Lancer and Archer not long ago?

From the shadow soldiers hiding in the shadows of Kayneth, Waver and Kiritsugu. He knew the situation on other battlefields.

Still, it was only now that he remembered that he had yet to find out who the current Berserker master was.

It was definitely not Kariya Matou, but someone else different from the original work. And Berserker seemed to have rushed towards their location after seeing the golden pillar of light Excalibur created.

He recognized it as his king's ultimate move.

[Should I use the Angel of Knowledge, Rasiel to find out who Berserker's current master is?]

[Never mind, this is quite interesting. I don't want spoilers.]

Just like Gilgamesh, Eiji also hated boredom and loved entertainment.

The heroines fell silent.

"Eiji, this time please leave it to me." Artoria pleaded even though she knew with her master power, she could easily defeat Lancelot.

Eiji gave a thumbs up, "Alright, I really won't interfere in the fight this time."

"Thank you master."

Artoria called him master again to show her gratitude and respect.

Then, Excalibur appeared in her hand and she walked towards Lancelot. The other party did the same to her.

But just then, he suddenly froze. His master used a Command Spell and told him to retreat.

The Berserker figure was forcibly teleported to the master's location.

Artoria was stunned.

Eiji put his hand on her shoulder and comforted her by saying, "Maybe next time. I can sense that that Berserker is almost out of mana. Because of that, his master told him to retreat immediately."

"..."

Really? Artoria was disappointed.

The other masters did not have as much magical energy as Eiji, they could not make their Servants fight more than once a day unless they were prepared to accept a greater risk of defeat.
