A glimmer of pleasant surprise flashed in Annie's eyes. Curiously taking the gift Mina handed her, she asked happily, "What kind of gift is it?"
"See for yourself," The cat-eared girl said, swishing her tail. She let Annie unwrap it herself; after all, if she just blurted it out, it would ruin the surprise.
The fox-eared girl couldn't wait to open the bag. When she saw the item inside, her facial expression instantly became remarkably colorful.
There was being moved, happiness, and a hint of suppressed amusement.
This made everyone incredibly curious about what Mina had actually gifted her.
"Mina, thank you. I really love it," Annie said as she took the item out of the bag. It was a wood carving—a sculpture of the fox-eared girl herself.
It was just that the body proportions of the wood carving were a bit disproportionate, especially the assets on her chest—one was big and the other was small.
"..." The corners of Annie's eyes twitched involuntarily a couple of times, but she kept a smile on her face.
This was a gift Mina had carefully prepared, a token of her affection, and the fox-eared girl was still very touched.
The cat-eared girl had been preparing this gift for quite some time. Whenever she had free time, she would go learn from the woodcarver in the city, ultimately carving this piece all by herself.
When Helen, Lucy, and the others saw the wood carving in the fox-eared girl's hands, they tried their best to hold back their laughter. The proportions of the carving were just far too disjointed.
Especially when they saw the chest area, they couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing!
"Haha... Annie, your boobs look so weird," Helen laughed, her two rabbit ears twitching non-stop.
"What are you laughing at? It looks better this way," Mina said, her face flushing red. She was on the verge of bristling. Although she knew her carving was a bit ugly, it was still a piece of her heart.
"Here's my gift," Helen said with a smile, bringing out her own present.
Annie took it curiously. It was a box with a stick figure drawing of the fox-eared girl on the outside.
Upon opening the box, she found three lollipops inside.
"They are carrot-flavored. I specifically had them custom-made. They're really tasty," Helen said, licking her lips—she had clearly already taste-tested them.
"Thank you, I love them," Annie smiled happily. Sure enough, lollipops were still her favorite.
Next, everyone else presented their gifts.
"Here, take a look," Lucas said. His gift was a watch—an exquisitely crafted watch with a dial inlaid with several Swarovski crystals. He had brought it back from Earth.
"Wow, it's so beautiful." The moment Annie received the gift, she tore open the packaging and was instantly stunned.
She never expected the Master to give her something so precious and gorgeous. It even had rhinestones inlaid in it.
Moreover, these crystals looked a bit different from the ones the Master had brought out before; both the luster and the color were incredibly beautiful.
The others were equally astounded, as it was simply too pretty. After all, women loved shiny things.
Back on Earth, Swarovski was extremely alluring to women, so here, it naturally made them even more unable to resist.
"So pretty," Mina said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the watch.
Catherine and Lucy both had looks of envy in their eyes, but they couldn't really say anything; after all, it wasn't their birthday.
"I didn't have time to prepare a gift, so let me play a song to wish you a happy birthday," Catherine said, her face turning slightly red. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she picked up the violin beside her and stood up.
"Okay!" The fox-eared girl was delighted; she really liked the tone of the violin.
Recalling the sheet music Lucas had given her, Catherine began to play the Happy Birthday song.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..." Off to the side, Lucas started singing along a cappella. This immediately got everyone else to join in, making the atmosphere incredibly lively.
"Time to make a wish and cut the cake."
Nicole, who had slipped away quietly, returned carrying a large cake with candles stuck in it, making everyone's eyes light up.
Catherine and Lucy were extremely curious. So, this was the cake the beast-eared girls were always talking about. It certainly looked delicious.
"Hurry up and make a wish," Nicole said with practiced ease. Having already helped celebrate Mina's birthday last time, she naturally knew that one had to make a wish before eating the cake.
Annie closed her eyes, clasped her hands together, and began to make a wish. She had thought of this wish a long time ago. After a moment, the fox-eared girl opened her eyes and blew out all the candles in front of her.
"What did you wish for?" Catherine asked curiously. This was the first time she had seen such a ritual.
"I can't say, otherwise it won't come true," Annie said, glancing at Lucas before blushing.
The rest of the group all wore "we know exactly what you mean" expressions, making the fox-eared girl feel even more embarrassed.
"Alright, let's cut the cake." Lucas touched his nose, coughed lightly, picked up the knife, and divided the cake into several portions.
"Mmm~ It's so delicious, so sweet." Catherine's eyes lit up the moment she took a bite. The taste buds on her tongue told her she absolutely loved it.
Lucy felt the same, completely won over by the cake's deliciousness.
In no time at all, everyone polished off their respective slices. Lucas headed back to the study first, as he still had some matters to attend to.
Seeing Lucas leave, Catherine hesitated for a moment before getting up and chasing after him. Lucy, seeing this from the side, also headed toward Lucas's study.
Arriving at the door to Lucas's study, Catherine hesitated once more. She bit her lip, took a deep breath, and knocked on the door.
Knock, knock, knock...
After receiving Lucas's permission, Catherine pushed the door open and went in. At a glance, she saw Lucas sitting in his chair, seemingly reading some letters.
"Catherine, what is it?" Lucas put down the letter in his hand and looked at her, his face showing no sign of surprise.
"Lucas, I want to go see my father." Catherine lowered her head, not quite daring to meet Lucas's gaze.
