* Ethan's perspective *
Sasha and I were running away from the enemies, which fr some reason wasn't that hard.
Even though we met some groups, we could easily dodge by changing directions.
However, we were running almost aimlessly.
However, suddenly a big fire was shot into the sky as a beacon.
I quickly understood that it was probably from Blake and decided with Sasha to run in that direction to meet the others.
It might be easier to run away if we combine our cursed power.
...
When we got near the fire, we saw a big explosion near the wall.
Sasha and I sneakily got near to see what was happening, and we found the other team.
Jin was unconscious near the wall but with only a few small injuries and some burns. He would probably be Okay after some treatment.
However, Mallory was with a lot of bullet holes around her body, from my perspective, it was incredible for her to be still alive. Moreover, her skin was also burned all around her body.
Even if we ran away, I know her chances of surviving were very low.
Even so, she was still conscious.
In front of them, was Blake, standing some meters in front of them.
He was with some scratches all over his body, but it was far to be serious. But, he looked to be exhausted.
Based on what he reported to be his cursed power, that fire beacon from before might have exhausted him.
The soldiers had already surrounded them, I didn't know how I could help them.
Even if I couldn't save Mallory, I still have to try something to help Blake and Jin, But how?
My power is meaningless in this kind of situation.
I realize that Blake was looking at me, he could see me.
He is probably thinking I was going to help him.
He trusts me. I have to think on some way.
One of the soldiers surrounding them shot a bazooka at Blake.
I froze.
The missile missed him by a strand of hair and hit Mallory's chest.
Mallory's body was extremely hard, but the waist-up part exploded as a balloon.
The explosion covered Jin and Mallory and I couldn't see anything anymore.
But, after some seconds, when the dust disappeared, only waist-down from Mallory was still there. Blood and gore filled the floor.
It was extremely shocking, I didn't know how to react.
A strong pain filled my chest.
A sense of hopelessness, sadness, and guilt filled me.
I made a lot of effort not to cry.
I looked at Sasha and his face was ugly.
However, different than me, she became more determined.
Apparently, she is stronger than me.
If she, a cursed person with a weak cursed power was determined to survive, even after seeing this, why was I feeling so hopeless?
Her determination gave me the strength to continue.
Suddenly another explosion took place waking me up from my thoughts.
I looked at Blake again and He was flying using his fire and burning everyone.
I then heard him screaming:
"COME QUICK, ETHAN!"
I held Sasha by her wrist and started to run the fastest I could.
Sasha and I were running to the walls while Blake cleared the way with his cursed power.
How did his cursed power suddenly turn so strong? Was he holding back before?
It doesn't really matter right now. We need to run away.
Even though Jin and Mallory were killed, we cannot lose our minds and let them also kill us.
However, when Sasha and I got near the Wall, Blake was hit by a helicopter's machine gun.
That can't be happening.
What's now?
He was so powerful but was killed just like that?
Everyone died!
We are finished!
Then I felt someone holding my wrist.
I looked at Sasha, who was that person, and saw her face filled with determination.
Sasha then opened her huge wings majestically.
That's right! Sasha is still here!
Not everyone died!
She jumped and used her cursed power and wings to fly.
The helicopter then turned in our direction, but since Sasha's power could stop the influence of gravity, the velocity at which we were flying was faster than the shots could hit.
When we got to the height of the wall, a missile was launched from the helicopter.
Sasha tried to dodge it, but when she changed directions, the missile also changed directions.
Sasha just accelerate outside the base and tried to fly far away from the enemy's base while still holding me.
I was being a burden...
She would be able to fly faster if she wasn't holding me.
Although the missile was already about to hit us, we were already miles away from the base.
"I guess you will have to continue alone from her..." Sasha said while looking at me with a smile. A tear could be seen falling from her eyes.
Don't tell me she is thinking of leaving me and being hit alone by the missile.
My mind raced trying to think in other way around
But I couldn't think of anything.
Sasha then started to lose velocity and got near the floor.
Then she released me and impulsion herself upward.
Although she realized me I continued holding her.
But she was so fast that I was forced to release her too.
She only got a few meters upward when the missile hit her.
Nothing besides blood and bones could be seen falling from the explosion.
Until a few white feathers fell slowly in front of me.
I couldn't hold it anymore and started to cry.
The sadness, loneliness, and guilt, made me forget that I was still being chased.
The missile was too quick, even if I wasn't holding her back, the missile would still hit her.
But why do I feel this guilt?
Could I have saved her?
*Yes, you could*
How? What could I have done?
*What Blake did*
That's right! Blake's cursed power got improved.
If my power had improved I may have been able to decompose that missile before it hit us. At least enough to make it inactive.
But... But... But...
How did he do it?
...
Why am I in this situation to begin with?
