Obligations are Complete
Dafa didn't raise his voice. He didn't need to.
The moment he stepped into the office, the room seemed to shrink around him. The tall shelves, the heavy desk, the long years trapped in books and rules, none of it mattered anymore.
Professor Alban felt it too. His eyes flicked from Dafa to me, then back again, like a man watching a storm roll in through a window he couldn't shut.
"An administrative error?" he said at last. His tone was thin, sharp with doubt. He didn't believe me. Not even a little.
"Yes, Professor." I sat straight, as my hands folded. Calm on the outside. Knotted inside.
"My financial hold was cleared today. My degree requirements were completed and approved over a year ago. What remains is a delay. Nothing more."
He leaned back, chair groaning under him. His fingers came together at his mouth, tapping once, twice. Thinking. Judging.
